Petterson I get, but why not Backlund? A bit on the older side but excellent defensively and would be the perfect 3C

Yes he's not bad, I think if he was better at Face offs I might think about it. But I am not giving up both those picks in this draft.

I mean I get that. I just don't rly know where those eventual draft picks are gonna fit into this roster, there's already issues with that, such as Savoie, Ostlund, etc.

Correction, Backlund wants nothing to do with BUF

Backlund’s also worth a 1st or TWO 2nds + a B Prospect + Replacement/Roster Player

Defense, a lot of Defenseman are gonna fall because of so many good Forwards in this draft. Weakest part of are Organization is are Defense

Backlund has a NTC and would only move to play on a Top Contender with a clear chance at Winning the Cup

BUF is not there yet

I’d imagine if the Pens were to trade him it would take more. Like say Peterka and a 2? More? In my eyes Peterka is a good player just needs to find consistency I feel like playing with Crosby or Malkin he probably finds that. He’s talented but like I said inconsistent. I feel like the trade would have to hurt more than giving up Rosen, a 2, & a 3. (Which is basically nothing in the Pens eyes. Giving up Peterka would suck but Pettersson is very good.

Ooooo Burn 🔥

Yeah, no, CGY is still a Better Team than BUF, much closer to Winning it all and if Backs doesn’t re-up with us, he’ll want to go to to COL, DAL, NJD or CAR or something like that

Ok but are they even? Maybe they could compete next year with a better coach but there was a 2 point differential between the two teams this season. That's it. Sabres also won more games on the season (42 > 38) And one of us is an awful lot closer to the cap ceiling

The major difference is in Defence and Goaltending and then Experience

How many former Stanley Cup Champions does BUF have!?

CGY had a terrible schedule, players having to make major adjustments, players who were away or injured, poor goaltending and the whole Sutter & Treliving = Coach & GM Debacle

Yes, a whole bunch of players excuses, but CGY is built to contend, whereas BUF is not.

Like NJD, they need to bring in more Veterans for their back end and defence and find better goaltending and they’ll be dangerous

That said, CAR is the more experienced & balanced team like CGY and will move on to the Conference Finals

Flames are a very good team, they simply had poor results this season

Pettersson is always hurt, before this year he had never played more Than 20min a night. Being partnered with Petry actually helped Pettersson. In no way am I giving Rosen and those picks for him. Plus he's a LD and if he stayed there probably is are 3LD.

I think that's fair value. Just doesn't really make sense to move him rn

Savoie is a key part of the future of this team, he shouldn't be available unless its for an elite top 4 RHD that is gonna stick around in Buffalo long-term. I love Backlund but no way Calgary trades him, especially not without a really good NHL player coming back. They aren't rebuilding so picks wouldn't be the ask.

Meh. Maybe so, but I'm not sold on them being a cup contender. Huberdeau needs to figure it out and Wold needs to be the real deal for them to maybe achieve that level. Fwiw Wolf probably is at least, Hubedeau is who you should worry about.

I agree with you. If the Pens were tearing it down maybe but not with Crosby, Malkin, Guenztal, and Letang all having 2-3 years left. Plus there’s other good defense available

Huberdeau wasn’t a fit and just didn’t excel under Sutter or his Defensive System, so a new Coach and System should help Hunderdeau substantially

He’s still one of the Best Passers and Play Makers in the League, so I’m confident he’ll get back to a PPG, especially if he plays with Backlund or Dube as his Centre and Mangiapane or Coronato as his RW’er
