Canes aren’t going to consider that. Canes aren’t going to move their long term 2C, and an undersized, dime a dozen winger with a 2nd isn’t going to get KK. Can we please stop this trolling now.

Garland has negative value. Too much money and term for an undersized player who is not playing well or producing.

Kotkaniemi is now coming into his own. Bigger players also always take longer to develop. The 'Canes likely knew he was a long term project when they acquired him. He is the type of player where 2 years from now, when be breaks out as a big productive top 6 C, people will bump all the old offer sheet or extension threads to quote people who called it a bad move.

Canes say no. Not what they want.

Far from negative value. Half you people throw negative value around like you know what it means tears of joy

Garland struggled for the first half of the season yet he produced more than Kotkaniemi this season. He played much better under Tocchet

Last season Garland was elite at 5v5 (in 2021/22 he had more 5v5 points than Rantanen, Nylander, Tavares, Debrincat, B Tkachuk, Zibanejad, and Forsberg. Also a better 5v5 P/60 than McDavid, Draisaitl, Ovechkin, Pastrnak, J Hughes, Barkov, Ehlers, and Guentzel)

Kotkaniemi also struggled at the beginning of the season. Kotkaniemi is a better defensive player than Connor Garland is. Kotkaniemi is also the heir apparent to the role of Jordan Staal in the Hurricanes organization.

Yeah I don’t think Carolina would do this trade, they seem to really like Kotkaniemi and he did improve in the second half of the season. I was more just responding to the comment about Garland not producing and having negative value, which just isn’t true

Fair enough... I think that Garland is a good player but it would probably be us giving up prospects and picks rather than a KK or Jarvis
