What is about Ranger fans not recognizing M NTCs.. Goodrow can certainly block a trade to any team with cap. Can anybody really name a team that want this 3.6m X 4 contract that Goodrow would waive to?

It’s 5M in savings. And the first 2 years of the buyout he’s a -200k and -100k towards the cap. A buyout gains additional cap space for the next 2 seasons. NYR would not be moving him. They would perform the buyout for the additional cap space

If he wants to make the full $ he has no choice but to accept. That being said most players are open to a trade and they just want some say hence the 15 team clause. It won’t be a list of 15 in the end. Probably 6-7 teams. That being said, before NYR spend draft capital to move him they would buy him out. See my comment above about why. *additional cap space

Not exactly true. As you stated he has a M-NTC (Modified No Trade Clause), thus he has sent in a N team no trade list. He can block a trade to team that he has agreed with NYR management he would not be traded to. But other teams that are not on that list are free game. Also, Goodrow does not need to waive (those conditions only apply or NMCs). NMC is a full no movement clause, he cannot be bought out, traded, waived, etc. But as you clearly stated Goodrow has a M-NTC. Just like Nemeth did not need to waive to be traded to Arizona (he also had a M-NTC).

Well there is still the point of why any team wants to take 3.6m X 4 cap year , and to help Rangers out of their cap situation.
Goodrow can make 2/3 rd of money owned in a buyout and the become a UFA and even makes 1.5m, he's better off financially. The Rangers would gain in the first two years of buyout but then would have some more expensive years.

Ya, those 2 years are while escrow is still holding the cap down. After that it will jump and the big contracts will be gone by then
