Description
NYR trade: Wings move on from Zadina to try to give him and Lafreniere fresh starts. Laf is provided 18 minutes a game in the top 6 to try to unlock his offensive potential. Veleno was moved to provide NYR a defensive bottom 6 C, while Detroit eyes Turcotte as a replacement.

LA trade: Turcotte plays on 3rd line wing for a year to get acclimated to NHL pace and more TOI than he ever got in LA. Petersen is expected to play 35-40 games. If his play is lacking, Yzerman is not afraid to waive him. If he doesn't perform to expectations, a buyout next summer is not awful ($1M next season, $2M the following).

BOS trade: trying to take advantage of the cap situation, Detroit makes a fair deal to acquire a young player with term in an area of need. BOS acquires Johansson, who has T4 potential, along with their own 1st in 2024 and a 2nd in this year's draft.

VAN trade: I saw this in another ACGM. With picks #9 & 11, Detroit selects Oliver Moore & Ryan Leonard.

Boston can’t trade Carlo, nobody behind him, at all, don’t have the cap to go out and get replacement.

Great offer. 👍🏻. They’d have to consider it.

These are all gambles and asset mismanagement. AJ is too good to not give a look in the NHL. Turcotte not too promising and i doubt they do that trade anyway.
No need for Vancouver trade. The NY trade is probably fair, but I am not sure Laf won't get more assets back. Or not.

Lafrenière can be moved, but at the right price.

Not asking anyone for the moon, but still something substantial. Rangers are set at C, and Zadina has been even less effective than Lafreniere. These won't entice Drury.

Yeah I saw that too and thought no reason for them to do that. Best bet to move up I think is Pittsburgh as they are really lacking futures. Vancouver doesn't have that deep of a pool either so they might be inclined to do this as well.

Probably not at that cost. Picks 15-45 have some really good talent. And that's just the talent we fans know of or think we know of. The fact that there is basically a consensus top 4 and then 15 players spread out across the next 30ish picks means moving up may not matter. I've see Honzek in the teens and the 40s. I've seen Moore and Smith in the mid teens. I've seen Dower Nilson in the 20s.

Essentially, in this draft, a smart GM has several plans. The only way I'd move up is if it is to snatch whoever is Yzerman's top rated forward (I like Moore) and Pelikka. Otherwise, the choice between 11 and 17/18 isn't going to get you a dramatically better player. Most drafts I'd say it is worth it, but at 41-43, there could be some REALLY good gambles, fallers, and gems. A lot of mock drafts have Dower Nilsson and Willander in the early 40s. I'd like to be able to draft that raw talent, which won't be ready until this team is in need of entry level reinforcements.

I agree with those two in the second round. I would like to move up if my player is there, if not I wouldn't bother.
I would love to some how get more draft capital this year, bring in the dumps!!!

I honestly think Pelikka will be off the board by 9. But, that also means someone fell, hopefully Moore. I could also see Moore going top 8, but that means Michkov and Carlson, are likely off the board too leaving Smith, Leonard, Benson, or Reinbacher still there. I'm not ecstatic over any of them, but it still isn't bad. I've seen Cristall and Sale in the top 10; Cristall doesn't skate well enough for Yzerman, and I know absolutely zero on Sale other than the fact he plays hockey maybe. Barlow would be a good pick up at 18, but his ceiling seems kind of a above average, and he would get Rasmussen'd in having to play in the OHL that he has outgrown or make the NHL. I've seen Rybar and Heidt as well, but I'm not too familiar with either of them either, though they look like high ceiling or bust types.
