Absolutely not. Sanheim is not the player you trade assets for right now, he's at best performed like a mediocre 2nd-pair guy, and at worst looked unusable. And his top-pair value, 8-year contract with a NTC hasn't even kicked in yet and lasts until he's 35. He's the kind of player you get paid at least a 2nd to take, not the kind of player you pay a 1st to get. The rest of the trade...I'd take any of Foudy, Bean, Robinson, or even the 3rd over Allison.

your so wrong, sanheim is a top tier 2-3 dman, which is easily worth a first+. his aav is fair and his term wont be a problem because he will easily be handled with after he starts regressing, which is probably with only 1-2 years left on the deal

Of D-men to play 200 minutes this year, Sanheim was 168th in 5v5 shot attempt % (below Seeler, Provorov, and Braun), 199th in 5v5 xG% (Ristolainen was 153rd, Braun 172nd, Provorov 190th), 82nd in points (despite playing 81 games, in among the likes of Dumoulin Petry, and Rielly, who played 16 fewer games), all while being ranked 36th in total ice time. 18 takeaways compared to 37 giveaways. Going back to last season he's still 134th in xG% and 192nd in shot attempt %.

"Top tier 2-3 dman" is outlandishly optimistic given the data, which suggests he's not even top-100 in any semi-significant statistical category. Trading a 1st for him, contract aside, would be bad. Add on that he'll be tied for 34th-highest-paid D-man next year (among Weegar, Morrissey, and Ekholm), has a NTC, and is signed for 8 YEARS...fire the GM that pays a 1st for him immediately.

Players are allowed to have down years. Look at his previous years, pretty consistently good. If they want to move on from him I'd gladly take him. He's easily the best player on the market for what their eyeing trading LA's 1st for. My issue is that the offer is pretty high for him.

I'm sorry, I totally disagree. He's never finished above 46th for xGF% (in 49 games in his rookie year, 79th for years otherwise) or 38th in points for D-men to play 200+ minutes a season. He's trending pretty consistently downward. People are allowed to have down years, but he's having a down career.

If we want Sanheim-Gudbranson to anchor the bottom-pair of a last-place team for the next 3 years, and make a combined $10M+ per to do so, that's fine. Sanheim is 27, he is what he is and it's not impressive. The boat anchor of a contract for a bottom-pair player should be a nonstarter, and people want to give up a first for him? Come on.
