Buffalo is looking for a goalie to mentor Levi and I can see Flames giving up one of their goalies for scoring forward Olofsson. I just put Marky in but who knows it could be Darth Vladar. It's just an idea and the trade isn't finalized, I just wanted to hear some thoughts about this.

If it's Markstrom I'd definitely do it but I don't think Buffalo would. If it's Vladar Calgary can't afford Olofsson's cap hit unless someone else making more money goes too and I think Buffalo would prefer an older more experienced goalie for a mentorship role.

Extending Lindholm is going to be the real key for Calgary next season. If they can't resign him they should blow it up and move all the pending UFAs for futures to kickstart a rebuild. Then the players with long term contracts and NT/NM clauses should be willing to waive their clauses.

BUF would probably prefer Vladar, since it's less of a commitment both in term and cap hit.

Flames would move Markstrom to Buffalo in an instant but I doubt he waives his NMC. They need to make space for Wolf and Vladar as the other goalie makes more sense.

True it just sucks that we signed Vladar to an extension

No, Marky can 100% bounce back. One bad szn doesn't make his value that low

I agree but a lot of people don't. I mean the season prior to this one he had 9 shutouts

And the season prior to that he was almost as bad as he was this year. That's Marky for you horribly inconsistent. A good game followed by a really bad game and a couple bad years for every good one. The good year in Calgary was a lot more about the whole team playing great defense in front of him than it was about him anyhow! This year the team played merely good team defense and that wasn't enough to cover for his terrible play. Vladar was better for less than half the money.

True it's like looking at Florida. Bob being paid 10 mil and every other goalie plays better than him every year. Examples: Driedger, Lyon, Montembeault. They were all basically being paid 1 mil or under and thay out played a goalie who is getting paid 10x their own salary. I'd put Knight but he is way younger than the rest of those goaltenders. CGY just needs to figure out which goalie is gone and find a solid 3rd G in case of injuries for the remaining goalie and Wolf

I'd much prefer to keep Vladar but unfortunately Markstrom's pretty much untradeable unless we pay through the nose to move him. Vladar we can get something for, a 2nd or a 3rd and a B prospect or something like that.

They would probably need Comrie or UPL. Would need to know markstom works well as a mentor
