There is quite literally zero reason San Jose would do this.

Edit: totally misread the trade I thought you were getting a first. Sorry.

It's an interesting idea but we wouldn't take a cap dump for what essential boils down to a 7th round pick. In terms of sharks draft needs Im not sure there is a need for us to move up 4 spots

Love how Toronto fans continue to shove this down sharks throats thinking it’s possible. This doesn’t really help the sharks and really helps the Maple Leafs.

Take on 5 mil cap dump to move up what 4 or 5 spots in the draft? Why???
Murray and the 1st for a 4th or even a 3rd is reasonable but this isn’t

Murray is getting 3 picks back? No way.

Lose the 2nd, 4th, and 5th picks if you want to send him to the Sharks.

No, why is San Jose giving up anything for a cap dump?

I'd assume this is structured after the Mrazek deal. It has real life precedent, but with San Jose's 2nd being so high, Carolina's 3rd seems like a better deal to me. Y'all don't really have any decent goalies. Kahkonen has been abysmal, Reimer is most likely gone and also sucks, Dell doesn't even make the roster now, and while Makiniemi and Mann each could have a shot at being a backup, they're each 24 already and coming from off-years. Murray isn't even all that bad, y'all aren't trying to be good, and he'll probably be on your IR a bunch of the season with his cap hit not even being a factor. This is a win-win. And sneaking into the 1st round for a low 3rd seems like it's more of a win for y'all than for us.

They still wouldnt do it. The price to get rid of Murray is a 1st - they arent giving anything in return for that

I want to know the leafs at least tried to sign Bertuzzi or Domi in the off season. no idea if the numbers would work... but damn bertuzzi has that post season grit . Domi has a bit of it too - good depth guy
