Description
1 )Kuzy hired an entirely new agency while still having 2 years left on his deal. Reason being he wants out of Washington ASAP and this group and the GM are doing everything possible to get a deal done. Big issue was a M-NCT but word is he's more than willing to wave to get out. (obviously within reason)

2) Capitals will be looking closely at what happens in Hershey during their playoff run. Big questions would be McMichael's consistency and Lapierre's maturity. If either shows a good bit of promise they'll likely use them at "2c/3c" next season. Protas will be the "band aid" fix if either cant find their way. Protas is more than able but is a much better wing than center due to foot speed. Smart player and plays a solid 200 ft game but he's not very quick. 3c will be addressed after Hershey's run imo.

3) Defense and goaltending. Sounds like they are completely satisfied going forward with the group they have.

4) Sounds like they are 50/50 on moving Mantha. Depends on the new coaching staff. He doesn't want to leave and hired a mental health coach to help him figure out some of his issues. That being said /how i interrupted this .. Mantha will be moved if we can get value for him. i don't see them moving picks to dump him.

5) Goal is to get "younger". Im not sure if there is a ton of young high end talent that will be easy / cheap to obtain so that means in house options. Frank looks great. McM / Lapp as stated earlier and Snively (looks awesome like a sheary 2.0 type) I would offer something along the lines of Sonny Lapp + 2024 + 2025 2nd for Debrincat. Sens get a really solid roster player. Solid C prospect and picks. his cap hit will be high and idk if i wanna waste the assets at this point.

When its all said and done they will have enough room for Oshie when/if he comes back.

Assuming CBJ gets either 1st or 2nd overall and look to compete immediately. Kuzy can become their 1c and should put up great numbers playing with JG and/or Laine. Feels like a low risk move considering what they are giving up to obtain him

Capital to less value for Kuzy since CBJ doesn't need any cap retained

this all makes sense except I don't think they move milano. not a great look to trade guys you just signed to extensions and the fo has been extremely good about that stuff

Agree with the above comment. Milano won’t be moved. Some numbers need to be reworked (all those RFA deals could be slightly cheaper so we can round out a full 23 man roster) but I think this is very close to what the team looks like in the fall.

imo they arent sending him to AZ or some other hell hole. Sens would have him playing in a similar role considering theyll be moving AD. They need to consider / explore most options to imprive the roster. Also Sens are looking to make a playoff push so they can just move AD and get nothing of immediate value back today. Sonny value + picks would be enticing enough for them to want to move him

RFA i went slightly more is $$ but i signed them for a longer term where we could possibly by some of their prime years for a lower amount. Risk < reward type move. Plus cap is projected to go up sizably after next year

the amount of loyalty fans have for Sonny is mind bliowing... is he really an untouchable? he didnt really have an amazing season like Stomedid

CBJ accept. Kuzy would remedy the center position and the price is more than fair considering.

They might but im not paying more than Sens did for a guy that's coming off a down year where he has 12 less points and 14 less goals than he did when Sens gave up all those picks for him. 8oa imo is untouchable if im the Capitals. that and Debrincat isnt worth the 8oa pick esp since he wants 9m/ year. gotta over pay to get him THEN you have to overpay to keep him. sounds like a lose lose for the Caps

This deal is a lot of futures and nothing that will really help the Sens a lot next year. Milano would help the 3rd line but nothing would replace not even 50% of Cat’s production in the top 6. If the Sens move Cat , I want pieces that will help now.

Cat had 66p in 82gp
Milano 33p in 64gp. 42p pace.

Milano ACTUALLY replaces 63% of DeBrincat production while making 1.9m instead of 9m. Imagine paying 80% less while only losing 37% of offensive production. Obtaining Milano in this trade gives you so much cap flexibility to sign some high end FA while flipping the picks / prospect to obtain a legit goalie

You can get VEJMELKA for a 1st. Flip Lap + 1st for Miller or a younger player but Miller + Milano is only 900k more than DeBrincat. Think about that.
