Lottery Win Full Offseason Mock

Créé par: Chapee44

Description
Ran the Tankathon Simulator a few times and got my fan-biased ideal lottery results:
1st Ducks - Bedard - I joined a Dynasty Fantasy Hockey and finished last so I need the lottery to go this way to get Bedard lol
2nd Sharks - Fantilli - I've always had a soft spot for the Sharks and like them being good.
3rd Sabres - Michkov - Big lottery win! Sabres have the ability to wait a couple years on Michkov and then bring him over on a 3 year rookie deal once they need to weaponize cap space.

Rest of the mock draft:
39 - Oliver Bonk - RD
45 - Tom Willander - RD
77 - Scott Ratzlaff - G
87 - Jordan Tourigny - RD
109 - Ruslan Gazizov - C

I'd also get extensions done this summer if possible:
Dahlin 11M x 8
Power 7M x 6

There are no top 3 lottery anymore, The current lottery system is only 1st and 2nd overall. Which means that Buffalo can't climb to 3rd as Anaheim and San Jose have already taken the 2 lottery balls.

Detroit has been heavily scouting Tom Willander, And we've picks 41, 42, and 43 if he's not taken sooner. Detroit will take him before Buffalo does.

The lottery changed so that a team can move up a maximum of 10 spots when they win the lottery. If the Sabres win, they would move up 10 spots to 3rd OA. I would assume for this draft order, the Sharks won the lottery for the second pick, and the Sabres won the other lottery, and moved up to 3rd. That way the Ducks stayed at 1OA

It's not a lottery win though, As of now the lottery is only the top 2 teams not top 3 since there are only 2 lottery balls from now on. I'm just saying it's not a lottery win. And i believe you're right Sharks and sabres would have the lottery balls as Anaheim stayed at their number 1 spot.

Everybody’s scouting Willander. Think he’ll be late first rounder. Certainly take him over Bonk at 39. Will Scouch loves him

He's pretty much the 2nd best RHD after Reinbacher. I'd definitely take him over Bonk.

If Buffalo gets a lottery ball they move up 10 spots to #3 so in this case they would have come out first and SJ second.

How much more that a 1 and a 2 do you think he fetches if the Flames are looking to make changes?

Our first round pick will likely see us take ASP, Reinbacher, or Wood. Those are just guys I have a feeling Adams' likes and ASP and Reinbacher are both RHD which is highest priority draft need

Probably TWICE the value you’ve proposed here = FOUR 1st Round Picks

Andersson has 3 years remaining on an Amazingly Cap Friendly Contract and is Untouchable, so it’s have to be an Offer no GM in their right minds would be willing to pay for CGY to consider moving him

We already need a replacement for Tanev and a 3RD. Weegar prefers to play LD, so that’s likely where he stays, right beside Rasmus Andersson. That pairing should pretty much be set for us going forward

Andersson is not close to worth that. That's what the Sabres wanted for Eichel, a "franchise center." Flames should not trade him but fair value would be a 1st, great prospect, and probably a 2nd or solid roster guy

Eichel had a broken freaking neck and just had major neck surgery. He was damaged goods and still got a huge haul. The guy isn’t reliable health wise and will likely never play a full season for the remainder of his career

You’re not including any compensation for the value of Andersson’s contract and Team Friendly Cap Hit or the premium it would cost for the Flames to consider moving on from a Player who they currently consider untouchable

I certainly did include "compensation" for those things. The fact of the matter is you have to look at what other similar players fetched. Hronek got a 1st and 2nd, Andersson is better than him no doubt. Ekholm got a B prospect, 1st, 4th, and 2nd/3rd pairing D man. Ekholm is better than Hronek and only a rung or two below Andersson. Plus Ekholm was retained. Chychrun is on par with Andersson and look at what his amazingly friendly contract got, a 1st, and 2 2nds. At the extreme high end of RHD value is Erik Karlsson. He had a 6.5 mil cap hit and at the time (and still now) was a top 5 D in the entire league. Values of what was acquired by Ottawa at the time was a 3rd pair D-man (Demelo), middle 6 forward (Tierney), A prospect (Norris), B prospect (Balcers), 1st rounder (imagined to be in the 20s range), and 2 2nds.

Andersson isn't close to Karlsson's level, and even Karlsson didn't net 4 1sts in value. If you can provide any evidence to back up your opinion then feel free to share it

You’re comparing Andersson to Left Shot Defensemen. Every Team in the League would prefer Andersson over Karlsson

The only evidence is this. Andersson is not available. He’s untouchable. So unless a GM offers something excessive like I’m telling you, CGY isn’t going to change their minds or move him

Talk to us in 2 years, otherwise pay the price or move on

Hronek is a RHD so is Karlsson. If you are talking about Chychrun the handedness is a moot point, as what we were comparing was contract friendliness and quality of player, which is what determines a player's value. Not a single team in the NHL would take Andersson as a player over Karlsson lol. I'm not disagreeing that Calgary shouldn't move him, Calgary shouldn't make any drastic changes besides firing Sutter and getting a modern coach in place

I was talking Age and Contract as well in regards to Andersson vs Karlsson

I’m on the fence about Sutter, leaning towards supporting him. The players gotta play. Not Sutter’s fault they couldn’t put the luck in the net. They were given plenty of opportunity and o-zone time

True it was a pretty unlucky season all around for the Flames. They lost the vast majority of their games by 1 goal. Win even 1/3 of those and you are easily in the playoffs
