Adams seems fairly smart...
Adams got real smart after Jason Karmanos was hired as Associate GM.
He made simply terrible trades and worse UFA signings his first year.
All of the other NHL GM's took advantage of his ignorance and naivete.
Letting Ullmark and McCabe walk for nothing, a second for Hall, a third round for Brandon Montour, how much worse could it get?
EDIT: Let me add, every one praises Adams while overlooking that 2/3 of the top line Skinner and Mittelstadt and 2/3 of the second line Thompson and Cozens, while the top pairing defensemen Samuelsson and Dahlin were Botterill's additions.
I will say he has done a great job of listening to people who know more than he, but that is just about every one.

I think this solves two Sabres holes, so I think they do it

Terrible time to trade for him. Value is the highest its ever been. He'll stay a sabre for that reason.

A team wouldn’t offer this. Sabres really like Mittelstadt and he’s been legitimately good since December no reason to trade him.
Casey has certainly elevated his game.
He has more pts this season than in his previous 3.
He looks very comfortable centering Tuch and Skinner.
I love Foligno and if he could elevate his game to produce as he did last year, it would be huge win for Buffalo.
While this is a nice return, Calen may be the wrong RHD.
The bottom line, if Savoie could step into the line up then Casey would become expendable.
