Vegas probably does that. Roy has emerged as a nice replacement for Karlsson. The question remains: does Calgary move Toffoli in the division?

That BUF trade is tempting.
If you changed Savoie to Ostlund, or the 23 1st to 24, I’d say you have a deal

I think in this situation, division isn't the biggest worry as they're probably soaking a year or two of contention at least. And yea, Eichel - Stephenson - Roy down the middle is plenty good enough.

Not sure what CGY fans would think, but I think if it's tempting for BUF fans and its tempting for CGY fans, the match would be there. When talking draft/prospect capital you're probably going to have to give up a little more than you're comfortable with to land a younger D of Andersson's calibre. But I think the Sabres' system and NHL young players more than allow Buffalo the flexibility to make a deal like this.

Gotta be a little painful for both sides!
A reasonable post.

this trade plus adding a good early/mid 30's vet starter goalie to start, or at least split the net with Levi, would put Buffalo in the playoffs imo.

Canes easily accept that and would maybe even add more…

Interesting idea…what if the Canes decided they feel they could reclaim Markstrom back to form.

What would it take for Lindholm + Markstrom? In that case let’s say you keep Vladar instead of moving him.

I think Canes should pursue Vejmelka

Markstrom is paid a ton of money and if he doesn't regain form you're screwed
Going after a guy like Jarry - again, will be paid a boatload and if he falters you've put so much money into goaltending
and etc

I doubt the flames do this being locked into huberdeau, kadri and Weegar but there really isn't a whole lot I wouldnt give up for Andersson.

Imo the perfect partner for either dahlin or Power.

Absolutely worst case, Markstroms buy out isn’t the biggest anchor to carry and there is a demonstrated track record of players coming to Carolina and performing better than where they were prior.

I agree that Vejmelka would be a better target, but the acquisition cost would likely be higher at this point.

My thoughts here would be if the Flames actually tear it down, they could get out from Markstrom, and it might soften the cost of Lindholm a bit.
