They can continue to suck for a while, let Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Guhle, Barron, Xhekaj, and prospects coming up like Mailloux, Hutson, etc. can become regular NHLer's before Hughes needs to go out and start bringing in everybody.

You may want to look up what an RFA is. Winnipeg is the only team with leverage and trading Dubois for nothing won't happen. Start with the Horvat trade and add from there with PLD being younger, better and having more team control.

Did Boeser and his agent come out and literally name the one franchise he wants to play for? Dubois did that. That affects the control Winnipeg has. Dubois could easily be moved to a contender, where he pulls a Nylander and waits and refuses to sign.

He’s been complaining on all trades involving Dubois that doesn’t return 2 top3 pick, the best players plus 2 high quality prospects.. If Dubois had the actual expected return for his value he would’ve been traded at TDL this year.

Most teams know that they’ll get him for one year, then he flies off to UFA and most possibly to MTL. He also has arbitration rights this year and has a very good year, so if WIN don’t pay up prime money, which they won’t have because of the cap hit they have for next year, they’ll lose him for nothing..

I’m betting the guys from TSN have a better idea of what’s going on, and they said talks are still happening between Chev and Hugues.. So I’m thinking Chev wants at least something to help him out next year, a good pick and one or two quality prospects.
