Detroit isn't giving up a 1st this year for a year of an almost 30 year old who will want a raise going into his declining years and could walk to UFA. Great player, but doesn't fit the rebuild timeline, and not worth that offer. Lindholm has had 2 seasons in which he was close to a ppg, otherwise he performs as a solid 2C. Last season was a career year, and he regressed this season.
There is no way I'd give up a pick that looks like it could be around 15-20, and also the 40th pick in a super deep draft for a 29 year old that will want north of 7 million on his next deal but will likely only give you 60 or 70 points a year at best. Lindholm will want to get cash on his last deal after outperforming his current deal.
