Avs are trading Girard before trading D.Toews. Not much incentive for them there besides the seconds. Murphy trade is not good and Guttman was playing really well. R.Johnson is a good role player and Katchouk is finally doing something, if we could get that for them by all means but they wont get that kind of return. Dont think Hawks will offer sheet anyone since it hasnt worked out so well for teams in the past.

Hawks should not be trading multiple 2nd rounders (especially one that sits #44 overall currently) for pending UFA's and Colorado would say no to that anyways. That Murphy trade is not good at all. If Hawks are trading Murphy, it should be for a first or first equivalent prospect (even if they have to retain some to get there which I suspect they would not need to). Free agent signings are off in several ways. Swayman would never sign that offersheet with one of the worst teams in the league because his current team would gladly sign him to that deal and pinch themselves as soon as the ink was dry. Drouin is a guy I like, but as a rehab and flip candidate on a 1 year 4 million (honestly 3.5 is fair) tops deal. No way he sniffs anything even near 5 million per season and he would be lucky to get even a 2nd year on a deal as Drouin is sitting on 28 points and you have to go back 5 season for the last time he topped 30 points. Compher is not signing for 2 years....he'll get 5 years and 5 million per is my guess.

Honestly this AGM is fine if you are trying to be better and sniff the playoffs but still likely miss. In pro sports (especially in the NHL where you can only drop 2 spots from your finish in the draft), if you are going to be bad, horrible is a way better way to go then just mediocre.

CHI just isn't going to be buying on LHD in general, let alone a 29 year old LHD. Makes no sense for them and doesn't fit their timeline. He will likely be getting ready to retire by the time CHI is competitive again.
