If I thought karlsson could hold up for 4 more years maybe but he won't. Let Bedard atleast try to play center.

If you even think a Karlsson trade is in this team's future, have a long hard thought.

Pass on the Karlsson trade.

And on what planet is Tyler Myers worth Mastro and a 2nd round pick? Allvin would need to attach sweeteners to Myers for Yzerman to take him off his hands

I think Bedard is better suited for the wing

Yea, there’s a lot of dreaming in this one… I think Bedard will play C at some point but will prob start out on the wing to ease him into the NHL

What could the Canucks get without retaining? They seem stingy about retaining on their own players

He’s not, the 2nd is for four years of $1 mil cap hit. Mast isn’t going to sign with Det anyways, it’s just a sweetener to let Van get first dibs

Okay that makes sense then, Still no to Karlsson. I'd gladly do it if we were closer to cup contention which we're not.

He's going to be too expensive for what he'll offer. If he was about 6-7 years younger; maybe? But he's 32, 33 this year. This sudden resurgence is an oddity.

I'd rather staple a bunch of 2nds to NY's pick and trade up for Reinbacher.

Bedard
Larkin
Kasper

Edvinsson - Reinbacher

I think by giving up that much Meyers takes the most of the excitement away from being able to draft Bedard.

I doubt Reinbacher makes it to the Wings 2nd pick of the round. Especially if the Islander's make the playoffs.

Bedard would be best suited to playing wing for Copp with Bertuzzi, in this scenario. Copp is defensively sound, and when/if Bedard is ready for center, you move Copp to wing and don't have to have new linemates. Bertuzzi, assuming a return to last year's form, provides a bit of grit and skill.

Rasmussen bumps up to the first line, and the first line gets the toughest matchups. Raymond should be better. Berggren is best suited to 3rd line duty and moves up for injuries. Kasper is a big unknown, but I suspect he will need AHL time. I'd probably keep Suter for bottom 6 center.

To be fair to me, I did say that we would need to trade up.

Not a bad idea but VAN won't be retaining any salary, management sees themselves as a contender and therefore will not be taking on extra salary

I don't totally disagree but if we won the lottery this isn't the approach I'd take with the roster really. I'd prioritize finding a winger I think fits with Bedard specifically and not try to piece him into our line up.
