The term length of the cap penalty is a bit long, but the actual cap hit is kinda not bad, especially in the short term. Thoughts? Would this hurt in the long run? Could maybe just hold Krug for a year and hope for a bounce back and decide from there.
NYR is cap strapped and may have to choose between Chytil and Lafreniere, assuming Miller is highest priority for them. Probably wouldn't really happen, but wouldn't be surprised to see some offer sheets on these guys.

Based on CF's buyout calculator, I would rather deal with the cap penalties from a Leddy buyout as opposed to a Krug buyout. Plus, Krug has atleast got some offensive upside
Krug will be 32 soon and at his size he'll probably end up on LTIR eventually, should probably hang onto him for another season and reassess later.

I think the early season injuries, O'Reilly and Tarasenko being UFAs and some inconsistent goaltending is what sunk this season.
A few tweaks in the offseason and a bounce back from some guys could easily have the Blues in a playoff spot next season, the west will probably be wide open again next season.
