If the Jets can't resign him long term they'll simply qualify him this summer keep him as an own rental for next year keep trying to sign him long term and if they still can't flip him in 2024 themselves.

If he doesn't want to resign long term after this year, he's not sticking around the following year. Better to move him this offseason for a bigger haul than they'd get at the deadline next season. If WPG falls out of the playoffs, I can't see him signing long term this offseason.
