Continue to ride the young players and let them develop. Will be bumpy but the forwards seem to be taking good steps forward. At the trade deadline, sell off some ufa contracts like barrie and trenin and replace with internal candidates. Consider trading lankinen if it is clear that askarov is ready for nhl time. Otherwise keep lankinen around so that saros can get adequate rest.

Free agents:
Sign carrier and glass to 4-5 year contracts if possible.
Give sherwood a 1 year contract. His speed and forechecking would are helpful for the 4th line
Asplund, foote, etc given 1 year contracts to try and earn themselves a bigger contract/role.

Sign and get svechkov to Milwaukee asap.

Do not sign many ufas except to help backfill Milwaukee and make it clear to Hynes he is to prioritize young player development. Evangalista and tomasino belong in the NHL. Afanaseyev as well once Trenin is traded at deadline.
