Rebuild - Phase 2

Description
Hope to see more bold moves from the new regime.
Phase 2 is primarily focused on dumping dead weight and bringing in new faces.
I know the PLD trade is just adding to the 1000s which have come already but with all the rumours I think that WPG will fold and try to salvage some form of compensation for the asset.

That is outright awful for Winnipeg. Two players that don't serve a purpose for the Jets and have bad contracts along with a 2nd. Not realisticat all.

That may be all you want to offer, but it isn't even close.

Well this is funny, they'll surely get a better return then that for PLD and for the trillionth time the Jets don't need Edmunson so send him elsewhere or keep him.

I can see the unfairness based on how PLD is performing this year, but the optics don't seem to lean in WPG favour for a favourable deal. So, what would you counter with knowing that PLD seems to want to go to MTL and limited leverage for WPG to negotiate?

Considering Montreal has no leverage in the deal, it would need to be similar to the Horvat or Meier deals.

So, Florida's 23 1st and Beck plus a roster player and a little more for the extra year. The problem is if Winnipeg wants a roster player back that any roster players Winnipeg would want, Montreal won't want to trade.

The most likely scenario is that PLD is traded to a US based team where he is willing to extend if he won't extend in Winnipeg.

Can't see WPG being too interested in this type of return. Edmundson is definitely not needed and they could get more as a pure rental at the deadline if it came down to that.

Interesting that you say MTL has no leverage. Based on the MTL media and insiders like EF have stated that PLD prefers to head to MTL. What are you hearing that would give WPG leverage in the discussions?

I agree WPG wants a roster players. In your opinion, what type of roster player would they be looking for in a trade?

There's only been rumours from Montreal media that PLD prefers Montreal, but from what PLD himself said, is that winning is the most important thing and that the Montreal rumours have been overblown by fans and media. So, if winning is the most important thing to him, then Montreal is out.

Winnipeg's leverage is that Dubois is an RFA and has no trade protection, so neither he nor Montreal have any control over where he is traded. Montreal will need to have the best offer to win.

The only roster player that Montreal has that might have a chance at being moved and being of any interest to Winnipeg is Dach. So, that's where the deal falls through I imagine.

It will be interesting alright. Depending on how the rest of this year goes and with Scheifele and Hellebuyck having only one year left on their contacts after this year as well as what happens with PLD, it could be a huge summer of change with Winnipeg... although that's what we thought last year! awesome face
