Description
Yes I’m dead serious with this offer. I think the only team with a chance to even beat this offer is Columbus. Also, are any of you Canucks fans think big your GM is nuts? I really don’t get the goal with where your team is going. Why not strip the team down this past offseason and go for the hometown boy in the lottery?

I put your prospects in taxi squad to show how deep a pool you’d have. It doesn’t even count having 4 firsts in this 2023 draft.

Canucks really aren’t that bad off with contracts and cap. As it stands they don’t need to do anything and they will be fine with the cap, they just can’t add or build. So no they don’t NEED to sell low or give premiums to move players of value

Yeah they are bad off lol. They only get to 21 contracts and you’re at the cap. That’s with everyone they have under contract next year and filling in with guys on ELCs.

Yeah, the pens don’t want it that badly. Of course Hextall is talking because Vancouver is in cap hell next year and he’s going to wait for the price to come down significantly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they paid a team to take on Boeser or Garland and got very minimal for Miller. Fact is, they are all bad contracts.

Canucks are not in cap hell next year... Canucks are not going to pay anybody to take a top 6 forward....

Wrong. Canucks can easily get under the cap next season without making any big moves

The Detroit trade might be the worst trade I have ever seen on here. Sure I would love for the Wings to add EP but I wouldn't give up a quarter of the assets you proposed let alone all of them.

So mortgage the future for EP, sounds counterproductive to what SY has been doing. 24 or not, this would ruin Detroit.

Grewe and Berglund probably cap out as fringe NHL players, so adding them is odd.

To recap:
- Cossa (goalie of the future as of now)
- Kasper (top forward prospect and top 10 pick a year ago who has since improved his stock)
- Edvinsson (best defensive prospect who most likely takes a spot in 2024)
- Two 2023 1sts that look to be 11-20 in a stacked draft and you protected them for 1OA?
- Two 2023 2nds looking to be in the 35-50 range in a stacked draft.
- 2024 1st and 3rd and not protecting the 1st.

In exchange for EP and Garland (can’t forget the 2024 4th lol)

Terrible asset management. There is no one in the system who can replace Kasper (EP would serve as a 1C for years in your mind I assume and you’re probably hoping they re-sign him) or Cossa, and you’ve traded 5 potential chances at replacing them in the pool.

What do you think it costs to get a top 10 centre who’s only going to get better and is 24 now? We’re talking about a franchise changing player, not a second line centre to play behind Larkin, which is the safer and more realistic move. This is a price worth paying for the most important position on a hockey team. Now if we were going to trade for a centre who isn’t a superstar of course I wouldn’t move Cossa, Edvinsson, Kasper, or multiple 1sts.

Oh and trading multiple picks for Tanner Jeannot is also terrible asset management but I’m sure Tampa won’t care. We’ve been rebuilding for long enough that we have a lot of depth to our futures. Even if this block buster happened, we still have a first in 2024, Mo, Lucas Raymond, Mazur, Wallinder, Johansson, and Nierbacher.

Kasper would most likely have to be included as a EP hopeful replacement (not saying he will be as good). Raymond as a proven young player with potential as he would fit a rebuild timeline and is already somewhat established.

A 2023 and 2024 1st would certainly have to be included.

Vancouver seemingly needs defensive d-men with some potential, so a AJ or Buium. To give up the top prospect at both forward and D, along with goaltender is way too much.

So as a base, it would be:
Petey for
Kasper as replacement prospect,
Razor established young top 6
Johansson or Buium as defensive prospect (potentially have to swap Wallinder but he isn’t the ideal fit)
VAN 2023 1st
DET 2023 1st
DET 2023 2nd

Other aspects can be modified, but this gives VAN some short term gain as well as potential future improvement, while helping with their cap situation. It also doesn’t screw Detroit. If EP went down, the Wings would become Arizona without the prospects.

That’s a very strong offer, however I think the Canucks would rather get Seider in any deal involving Pettersson

Define big trade. Cause you’re implying you’re going to make trades which I said Vancouver would have to trade salary. I didn’t say they specifically had to trade Miller, Boeser, or Garland specifically. I simply said if they did, I could see where they didn’t get much for them and if Hextall wanted one that he’d wait until the price came down.
For example you could essentially trade Pearson for scraps and replace him with Hoglander and that does the trick but that’s still trading salary. Honestly that is what the Canucks should do and just hold onto Garland, Boeser, and Miller if they believe they aren’t rebuilding and simply just a minor retool.

Canucks don’t have to make any trade at all. At worst they might have to move a guy like Travis Dermott or something

Which is fair, as they are essentially the same player to their franchises (young centerpiece building block for the future).

The only time EP should even remotely be considered as a player on the move is if there is a camera in his face and he screams into it “TRADEMENOW!”

It would have to be a hostage situation where he blinking to the camera in Morse code. Canucks wouldn’t even let him say a word about leaving

That’s still trading salary lol. But go ahead make an acgm for Vancouver next year. It has to be a 23 man roster and no trades or moving out salary. And it’s gotta be the assumed 83,500,000 cap
