Terry is 8 years away from being a UFA if he and GMPV agree on a contract that makes it so.

We're not selling Terry because we are past the point of selling off core pieces for draft capital, at some point you have to stop selling and start building. We have Zegras who was 9OA, Drysdale 6OA, McTavish 3OA, Mintyukov 10 OA, and for all we know we will have Bedard this summer. One of our top D prospects may push themselves onto the roster next season as well, our goalie of the future is 22.

We can't just keep selling or we will never "build" out of the rebuild. We expect to bounce off the floor next year with a couple smart additions at defense and a new head coach and be mid pack, starting to compete for a playoff spot in 24-25 season. That won't happen if we sell 25 year old Terry.

This is all reasonable, thank you. I figured it was worth asking. I personally don't think the Ducks are that close, but I also don't watch much of them so not in the best position to judge.

We don't have much left to sell off before we start digging into the young core which Terry is a part of. We have Henrique, Silfverberg, Fowler, and Gibson remaining. Only one of them likely to move is Henrique. Silfs probably not worth half his contract at this point, Fowler has a 4 team trade list, and Gibson is too integral to the team to loose, and it's not likely anyone would offer enough to convince us at this point. There's too many goalies avaliable in FA this season to command much.
