Yes to the philly deal but hell no to the CGY deal. Jets are both rebuilding and contending. In order to make a run this playoff and next playoffs, they arent gonna do it with a couple superstars, but with solid 3 lines and 2 solid top pairing D and Helly in net. So bringing in a rental like JVR this playoffs and someone similar that is scoring pending UFA for the next playoff push, but without giving up top prospects and high picks, makes sense. Hence i like your JVR deal. But if i'm Winnipeg, Mcgroaty, Lucius, Lambert & Heniola are off the table. Jets have a history of drafting well but managing their assests terribly. Ex Trouba, Laine, Rosolovic, and Heniola so far. They need to develop and be loyal to their first round picks and high prospects and actually bring them up to the big club sooner so they in turn can remain loyal to the club and fan base because of the better opputunites to play in the NHL and make bigger money sooner in their career as they might be more inclined to stay. Rosolovic wanted more playing time instead of being stuck on the 4th line and Laine wanted to be on the top line. Couldve been able to kept both. Instead thye essentially have Nino and Dubois. Both comporbable players, but both are walking UFAs and not franchises nor long term players after next year. Trouba was just greedy and giving him 8 mill wouldve killed the Jets so I can see letting him walk. Heniol should be playing all season on then bottom pair with Demelo or schmidt. All do respect to Stanely & Samberg, both those guys are just 6/7 defensemen and thats ok! Not bad having decent drafted and developed depth and nhl calibre scratched players Jets need to have another puck moving Dman and he was drafted to be that guy. Too good for the AHL and we all know maurice didnt like young guys which has held heniola back in this limbo. Qualify PLD and if the Jets arent in contention next year, don't re-sign anyone, then its time to fire sale, PLD, Schiefile, Helly & Wheeler at next years TDL. Build the team around Perfetti, Mcgraty, Lambert, Lucius. Only give up Morrissey, Ehlers, Connor for hauls of top end prospects and high first round draft picks. Kinda stuck with Lowry & Appleton but meh they are bottom 6 fan favourite grinder type. Let them play out the contracts.
