I was actually disagreeing with Red Wings fans saying Vrana would get a good return. Don't recall if they said 1sts. But I've been on the buyout Vrana train for awhile now.

This trade is better than a buyout. Only because Vrana will be on our cap for 1 more season instead of 2. It's a potential home run for the Blues.

To be fair Yzerman has made some pretty incredible deals. No reason to believe he wouldn't find a way to turn Vrana into something of value. Maybe this is a move to make teams think Yzerman isn't as good as everyone thinks he is. A little reverse psychology by Stevie perhaps?

oh there's one poster i can guarantee was saying that, i'm not gonna snitch tag and gloat but they would usually show up on any ACGM Vrana was mentioned. recently saw him on an Isles ACGM that traded for Vrana saying "Vrana would cost Wahlstrom & a 1st".

Sucks that the situation was just unsalvageable in Detroit, I guess - Vrana has a ton of skill when he's been on the ice but that's been happening less and less frequently the past few seasons. Hope he can get his career back on track.

I was hoping the Pens would take a flyer on him. He's a good high-risk/high-reward player.

Hey we once traded future hall of famer Adam Oates to the Blues for a washed up Bernie Federko. He played one season in Detroit and then retired! Good times. 👍
