Bertuzzi doesn't sniff that. He doesn't even warrant a 1st tbh. Jeannot is also an RFA at year end with a projected AAV of 2m compared to Bertuzzi whose a UFA with a projected AAV of 5.5-6.5

1. Don't think we get a top prospect + a 1st, maybe remove the 1st and 2nd, add a 3rd, retain some salary. Dallas may accept that. Not sure on their situation.
2. Kubalik maybe fetches a 3rd if we trade him, I'd think a 3rd + a 5th for Kuby @ 50% retained would be fair.
3. I don't think our team should trade Suter. He is phenomenal defensively.
4. Sunny maybe fetches a 3rd? Doubt it. Would probably have to retain.

Bertuzzi offers less grit for exponentially better offensive prowess. Last season is going to be a better picture than the **** he's been through this season.
Of course, the UFA status is scary but I imagine a deal can be worked out.

Johnston has played admirably for the Stars as their 2C. He has been arguably better than Bertuzzi this season.
He is also on an ELC which is incredibly valuable.
Bertuzzi's value is in the toilet this season. However, you'll get a decent return because his overall body of work shows he's a capable top 6 wing but you won't get as big as a haul as you might think.
You can't compare this to Jeannot. They are 2 different players with different circumstances. Bertuzzi is a pending UFA, Jeannot is younger and an RFA.

1st + 5th is a good return for Bertuzzi imo.

Bertuzzi trade is based on the Jeannot trade and the fact that Bert is a young power forward coming off of a 30 goal season. “bUt hE haS NoT sCorED A lOt THiS seAsOn” yeah because of 2 flukey injuries that occurred because he was blocking shots.
