Honestly I was trying to think of a way to have the Canucks say no. They need the defensive help, so this works so well for them. Now from a Blues perspective, I think they say no. They'd likely want futures, not a top 6 forward.
Dutchies a aimé ceci.

Van says no because we're trying to get cap releif, and get futures as well, van is rebuilding and parayko does the opposite of that

Parayko is cap relief. Miller's extension kicks in next year the Canucks would be saving 1.5 million per year for 7 years. But the Blues decline anyhow.

Can't say from a Canucks perspective but for the blues we need Parayko more than we need Miller. We have Thomas and Schenn down the Middle. If we trade Parayko we have Faulk and Bortuzzo as our top 4 RHD.

Blues also have 3 picks in the first round this year. In a MONSTER deep draft. 2015/2003 kinda draft. Further that, Blues are definitely either hard rebuilding(we'll be able to tell at the draft) or hard retooling. I don't think they're committing to a we're making the playoffs next year. Not with the extreme lack of NHL talent up front, and somewhat sublime goaltending.

I think to make this work, Canucks have to add one of Woo, Rathbone, or Jurmo. While getting back a younger forward from the Blues.

As it stands I think the Blues are highly more likely to shop him to a team fully committed to "we're trying to win" not two teams in retool/rebuild mode.

We can keep Parayko and still tank. The only way we trade him is to get picks and prospects and not another highly paid roster player. I don't think teams are going to give the blues what they want and they will instead keep Parayko. He's a good vet to have around so the future kids we draft don't get overwhelmed.
