Description
PIT/VAN: News on VAN sending a forward with term to PIT that isn’t Boeser. Pettersson seems like the most likely option to go. Idk who needs to add here.

PIT/STL: Basically swap blueliners. PIT needs more production from their back end and I’ve seen multiple blues fans saying they need to move Krug. Idk who would need to add here if anybody would.

PIT/ANA: Aquire a new 3rd line center and a replacement for Pettersson. Spending the picks and Blueger to get the 50% retention and Kulikov, Heinen just a toss in for cap purposes, he doesn’t have negative value but he also doesn’t have a lot. Also evens out the players going back and fourth.

PIT/CHI: Seems like everybody’s going in CHI. Penguins replace Blueger with a defensive-minded 4th-liner in Dickinson. Raddysh is a young player with a high upside. CHI can probably flip Dumoulin at 50% retained. Hållander and the 3rd for Raddysh.

Hextall has noted he does not want to trade for players on expiring contracts. The only player here without term is Kulikov. It seems like getting players with term is shooting ourselves in the foot with pending UFA’s Zucker and Jarry, but hey, Hextall does what Hextall wants (which hasn’t been a lot recently).

Idk how feasible this whole thing is, but on paper, it looks really good, and would change the chants from “fire Hextall” to “We’re sorry”

Vancouver definitely adds.

Nope on that St. Louis deal. Yeah pens need more offense from their back end. Let’s trade the guy with a better contract and the replacement for Letang when Letang gets injured for a guy on a way worse contract that bad the exact same amount of points in like the same amount of games but is wayyy worse defensively. That’s really dumb.

I doubt Anaheim does that. I’d rather just sell Kulikov separately and wait til offseason or next TDL to possibly get more for Rico if that’s the best I get this year for him.

Why would Dumo waive for Chicago. Chicago was one of few teams actively since the offseason tanking. I’m sure he put them on his NTC.

Blueger and Heinen are underperforming bottom-6 forwards on expiring contracts, so they have close to zero value to a non-contender like Anaheim. If you're going to be getting Henrique with 50% retention plus Kulikov in the same deal, we'd need at least a 2023 first.

No they don’t lol. Pettersson has been amazing. You obviously don’t watch if you think Pettersson is a cap dump and Garland is great lol

Pettersson is a 3rd pair guy making over 4m a year, garland had a bad start to the year, partly unlucky but he wasn’t great, but since Tocchet has taken over he has 11 points in 14 games and has been among our best forwards

Again you really don’t watch. Which is ok. Pettersson isn’t a 3rd pair guy. Pettersson is playing 2nd pair and really should be playing 1st pair but the Pettersson-Petry pair has been so good that they don’t want to split them up.

The athletic also did a piece about penguins defensemen and how they are playing and what their contract should be based on how they are playing and said MP is not only playing like a top pair defenseman. But playing like an elite top pair defenseman.
