That's a horrible trade for the Leafs, arguably worse than that Jeannot trade for Tampa

Check out the Leafs fan who has Sandin being claimed by Columbus on waivers. 🤭

I'm pretty sure Phil is happy in Vegas. He can get his Coca Cola and hot dogs on the Strip. 🤣

I loved the Tampa trade for Jeannot. Cal Foote is a failed prospect and JBB knows nothing will come of those picks except for the 1st. And even that's not guaranteed. Jeannot will fit in perfectly in Tampa.

100% agree. It's funny to listen to the "Tampa overpays!!!" narrative, and look back at it all. Only deal that the picks really haven't been made on is the Hagel deal, and they're likely both going to be in the 26-32th OA. Aside from that, there's been a total of 16 GP by the picks/prospects (Foote). Then there's Raddysh/Katchouk both of whom are bottom 6ers.

They traded an entire draft class for a 4th liner because he hits

They traded picks that mean absolutely nothing to them because they wanted to add a player that filled a need that they had. Honestly, it's not outrageous to think that in the 24/25 season, Tampa will still be very, very good.

Do I think it was a lot to move? Sure. Do I think that makes this bad? Absolutely not. We absolutely overvalue draft picks. Look back at the picks and prospects that Tampa has moved so far since they started doing this in 2020 with Coleman/Goodrow...there's literally nothing scary there that would have any impact on their current, very much contending, roster.

In 2030, will Tampa fans look back and say "Bahhh!!! We mortgaged our future! I wish we hadn't traded those picks for the back to back cups and another finals appearance! (Plus whatever they do for the next 3-4 years)"?

No. Jeannot is fine.
