There's a good chance Snuggerud plays another season in the NCAA or he takes a season in the AHL as well. Personally, i'd rather him take a year so we can figure out our back end prior to bringing him up in a shaky circumstance.

However, I don't really want us to go out and try to sign a d man in UFA unless its something similar to Klingberg (Not the player, the contract).

There's lots of solid, affordable LDs available in UFA this summer. It would be silly to not get anyone (provided we move out an LD, of course).

Well affordable is the issue here. We've done this a couple times and bought high with guys we got at the deadline and immediately re-signed them with Scandella and Leddy.

If we're going out and getting a guy that's coming with term I'd prefer we didn't unless its only a couple of seasons. We keep piecing together this defense since the removal of Pietro, Gunnarsson, Bouw and it's gone very poorly. I'd like to avoid term until we have more of a showing than a straight rental or a straight up UFA. The only caveat to that would be we stop trying to put Parayko in a complete shutdown role without a guy who can play the minutes effectively and be able to move the puck to some degree. I'm not sure you get that without overpaying in UFA Graves at that contract would be an overpayment in my opinion.

Parayko can play a shutdown role, what do you think he did when we won the Cup? The problem is we keep giving him **** partners. There are several suitable partners available this summer. We should ditch Krug or Leddy and grab one. Next summer's LD market is trash.

I agree, what I’m getting at is we need to stop piecing it together with his partners and I don’t necessarily love any of the guys in UFA to do so.

Graves is a possibility. But I don’t know if he can handle the absolute gauntlet thay Parayko gets ran through

There are guys besides Graves who are quite capable of providing a J Bo element so that Colt can be the chaser who uses his wheels and reach to shut things down from the perimeter. We keep asking him to be the J Bo for some dumb reason. Some of them would probably need to load share because they haven't been 20+ minute guys yet. Or we could just go sign Orlov when Boston can't afford him.

Personally I think Hanifin is the best fit that could possibly be available. I just don’t think I’d like what it would cost. Also, I think moving Krug may be a bit more difficult than we’d imagine unfortunately

Oh we all imagine moving Krug sounds impossible. But there are still dumb/desperate GMs out there. It ain't over til it's over.
