Very bold to think that adding 3 d from some of the worst defensive teams in the league is gonna magically make your D core better......

Vancouver is not giving up a right handed defensemen especially for value as low as that, vancouver already have enough wingers and a lot better than foegle but bear is our best right hand defensemen so they won't trade him or itll be for a very pretty penny

I'm not looking at team stats, too many variables in that. Just like when teams trade for a defenceman at the deadline, they're looking at the individual.

They're all players that the Oilers drafted, or signed out of NCAA in Oesterle's case and I believe they shouldn't have traded or not resigned.

I didn't explain it well, sorry. Ethan Bear was an Oiler when he was traded for Warren Foegele and I don't think Edmonton should've

Tbh I will give you Bear. I don't know as much about him but I've seen Jones and Ost play a decent amount and I don't think you are missing out on much. Both are serviceable 3rd pair guys but I wouldn't want either in my top 4.

You think they should leave the defence the way it is currently, no deadline trades?

Where they play them would be up to the coaches. They would still have Gustafson, Broberg, and Niemeläinen too. The question I'm posing is, are any of the LD they had or have as good or better then Kulak

Benning is having in incredible season. To trade him one for one for Ceci is awful. He's worth well over a 1st rounder with the contract he's on.

True. I remember though after his NCAA play he was going too refuse to sign and become a FA, so the Oilers got what they could.

I'd like to add a guy like ekholm. Someone of some significance wouldn't be looking at guys we Already casted aside.

The trade I made isn't the point though. The Oilers just should have kept him is all.

I think you're missing the point here. This is not what I think the Oilers should do now, it's what I think they shouldn't have done then. They could of course trade for Ekholm or any other player now. What I'm trying to convey here is that I believe trading and not resigning their young promising defenceman in the past has made the team worse.

But not one of those guys really amounted to much... Bear might be the best of that bunch and he would be a healthy scratch on the current roster. I'd give Jones away for Keith a dozen more times if I could. Wouldn't think twice if choosing between Russell at that time over oesterle. The only fair d man could say we gave up on too soon is Petry which is questionable if he was willing to resign heard conflicting reports.
