if we trade away kempe you have to take brown

I looked at having to take back Brown but could not afford to do it with already taking on Pominville..... It seems every trade with LA (on this board) where it is Brown/Muzzin or Brown/Martinez that is a non starter with LA fans..... If Brown has to come back then I just do not see a deal being possible..... his contract term of 5 years is the death blow for me.

I am not 100% all in on trading Kane. In this scenario I would be content not trade Kane and just not sign Parenteau.

I don't think I'd do the Wild trade from Buffalo's side. Nylander for Dumba is close enough (although I'd ask for Brodin), but I wouldn't add the extra pieces to take Pommer. He's still a good player but he's overpaid and probably has negative value right now for Minny because they're butting up against the cap ceiling.

What if you kept Rodrigues and the 3rd then we retain $1.5 million on Pommer? We would probably be interested in Nelson to backfill Dumba's spot on the right side.

It's better... How about if we replaced Dumba with Brodin and took Nelson out as well? You have Olofsson and Reilly to take Brodin's spot and I don't think Nelson is NHL ready at this point anyway.

Brodin is worth a lot more to us than Dumba. Losing him would be a much bigger blow to the team than losing Dumba would be. Without Brodin, Suter averaged over 30 minutes and Spurgeon averaged around 26.5. He is able to eat minutes to keep the other two's minutes manageable, play in tough situations our other D can't, and overall solidify the back end.

Olofsson is ready for the 3rd pair (Scandella's spot) but I don't know if I would trust Reilly just yet to get regular time. He has to have the right partner and I don't think Folin or Prosser exactly fit the bill. When he was paired with Dumba for a couple shifts it was an absolute train wreck. I would be terrified to have to roll out Suter-Spurgeon, Olofsson-Dumba, Reilly-Folin next year. That would be one solid first pair and two mediocre 3rd pairs. Reilly and Dumba's offensive prowess don't make up for their defensive deficiencies at this point. We really can only afford to have one in the lineup at a time.
