Hagel Like Deal

Description
Michael Rasmussen has become somewhat of a fan favorite as well as a locker room favorite in Detroit but, are the Red Wings better off moving him for a package like CHI got for Brandon Hagel last year? Is he worth that? Probably not exactly what Hagel got but, close.

Since becoming the Red Wings highest draft choice in like 30 years, Rasmussen was thrust onto the Red Wings roster immediately and it’s been a gradual climb for him to become not quite but, somewhat close to what the Red Wings had in mind when selecting the 6’6” centreman. He’s not the offensive juggernaut you’d prefer in a top 10 pick but he’s become a guy whose line mates love to play with and opposing players would prefer not to go up against due to his monstrous size and physical play.

Still under contract for another season at a bargain rate of $1.4m - Rasmussen is surely headed towards a sizeable raise at the end of next season especially if he continues to progress like he has over these past two seasons. So, would it make more sense to ship the versatile forward off to a playoff destined cap strapped team and cash in? I would.

Note: Even still being in the mix for the postseason, which I wouldn’t mind getting in (only to likely be swept with vigor in the first round), we’re not a team that is built to compete with the better half of this league especially in the postseason. I would hope any ‘good’ offer for any of our impending free agents is accepted by Yzerman.

I like the Pens deal. The only issue is cap. The Pens have no space as Rutta will be off LTIR shortly. If you take Blueger back it would work. He's a UFA, so there's no commitment. Plus he's a player that DET may want to keep. He just needs a change of scenery.

Yeah, I’d be perfectly fine with keeping Bert and he loves being here. So I think there’s a slight possibility of him being traded and returning in the offseason or simply not traded at all.

Taking back a $2M player for half a season is where you draw the line? lol

No we’d take back contracts, that wouldn’t be a dealbreaker at all.

I think the funniest part on this thread is that Raymond++ would maybe get a call regarding Byram. Raymond had more value than Byram currently. Byram is not Seider and not really close. Just like Seider is not Makar and it’s not close.

Ask any wings fan on here, I am as unbiased as it gets. Just admit you’re basing your opinions on players you’re ignorant about and have barely watched. It’s okay that you haven’t watched them much, just don’t carry such a strong opinion about them. It’s unflattering.

And just to give you perspective, I’m very well versed when it comes to the players in this league as a whole. I probably watch a solid 20-25 out of market games a week, possibly more of your favorite team than you’ve watched yourself.

Anyways, have your opinion, but don’t make an opinion without having enough knowledge, it’s okay to say, “hm, I’m not sure that x players value is this, from what I recall he’s had some injury issues”. People will respect you more. But you probably don’t care if people respect you or not. Notice the word “probably”; because I don’t know one way or the other. Words are important.

You think a bandaid who hasn't even been good this year will get a 1st lol. Also claim Rasmussen will get a 1st when there better forwards available this year.
