Description

This is mostly for fun, but I also tried to make it somewhat realistic if the Flyers DID decide to go into a full rebuild and Leafs sacrifice futures and top prospects to WIN NOW!

Here's the trade breakdown:

Travis Konecny: 2023 1st round pick (TOR), Matthew Knies and Ty Voit.

Scott Laughton: 2024 1st round pick (TOR), Roni Hirvonen and Topi Niemela.

Braun/Brown/Engvall/Holl/Kerfoot are swapped mainly to match salary cap space and roster spots and SPCs since both Toronto & Philly are close to the 50 contracts max limit.

Our top prospects are not ready to help make an impact right now, and Leafs are in win now mode. Yes, it's a high price to pay but you have to give up something good to get something that can help the Leafs win now.

Not much thought for the cap next year or futures. Take the Philly trade:

So next years the Leafs have Laughton/Koncecky/Brown making 9.25m. Wouldn't the Leafs be much better off having 925,000 Knies and 8m in cap to fill those other two positions. Gee the Leafs wouldn't be better off making the Philly trade keep Knies, the 8mk cap and two first, Niemela, Hirovonen, and Vogt?
Hawks don't do that deal.
