-Coyotes pass. First off, I can't see them tying up one of their 2 remaining retention slots for the next three seasons for a measly $600K - that to me would be a "no Ken, *YOU* figure it out" moment on a trade call. Take off the retention and I think it's close - Broberg looks very good as a young LHD, the 2nd & 3rd both being this year makes up some for the first getting kicked to 2024, and Warren Foegele is probably a contract the Coyotes would be fine taking back to make it easier. But the reason Arizona was rumored to be open to retaining was to meet their original asking price (3 premium assets) - so if you're asking them to retain anything, you're throwing in something else significant here.
-San Jose would need more. Schaefer and the '23 1st are a fine start, but Puljujarvi brings minimal value to the table, the 5th is a lottery ticket they have to wait a year for, and the only other decent asset is a 3rd that you've kicked three drafts away. Either upgrade Schaefer to Holloway or Bourgault, or this offer gets beat by a team that doesn't need to both have Meier come with full retention *and* send back a bad contract.
As far as the double retention, I think you can get away with just a 4th for $1.5M, and it'll be someone with actual cap, not a team using LTIR - think the Ducks or Ottawa or someone in that tier of cap floor teams.
