NYR 2024-25 Starting Roster Revised

Créé par: NYR_Fan_94
Équipe: 2024-25 Rangers de New York
Date de création initiale: 12 févr. 2023
Publié: 12 févr. 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Major moves:

Sending Trouba to Detroit at 25% retained along with a 2nd round pick in 2024 draft after or during 2023-24 season to clear room to sign Ryan Lindgren (deleted)
>>Sending Trouba to Minnesota at 25% retained along with Cuylle after or during 2023-24 season in exchange for picks to clear room to sign Ryan Lindgren

Sending Barclay Goodrow in 2023 summer to Ottawa along with a conditional 4th to clear room to sign RFAs Laf, Chytil, and Miller (deleted)
>>Sending Goodrow back to SJS along with Kravstov (extended) in summer 2023 along with picks in exchange for a 2024 2nd and 3rd

NYR to not sign any major UFAs in 2023 or 2024 summers; instead opting to slot in young talents Othmann, Sykora, and Korzcak. Potential exists to trade Panarin during 2025-26 season for a haul depending on playoff picture.

Caveat: Rangers to win Stanley cup between now and 2024-25 season!

Ottawa cannot afford Goodrow at all.

And there is zero fit for Trouba in Detroit with Seider and Hronek there.

Right ideas, but soooooooooooo the wrong teams.

Except for the M NTC Goodrow trade......Sens have no cap, and the Trouba trade, it all makes sense.
Long term cap just can't be wished away, certainly not with taking similar cap back in return..

Yeah tbh i didn't put an immense out of thought into that OTT trade partner decision - I just assumed Barclay being from Toronto that he would waive his NTC to play for a hometown team. We have to move him somewhere this summer. In terms of Trouba, are you assuming Trouba would never waive his clause? or that Detroit would never do that deal? I feel like they would be the logical partner and at 25% retained, for what should be a contending DET team by then, it's not an insane deal.

Trouba may not be Trouba by that time. It'll depend if the wheels fall or not. But there should be some interest by Yzerman.

One omission here is signing Gauthier to a 2-3 x $1.25M deal this offseason. I would like to see the Rangers do that, and give him a shot in the top 9. Kravstov is also likely to be traded btwn now and then. Unfortunately, that pick and his development has been a disaster (in large part because of his refusals to play in Hartford.

Ah, I didn't realize both Seider and Hronek were right-handed. That makes sense. Indeed too much for a third-pair RD

I guess the question about Trouba....is he even a 6m Dman? Yea if he is, yea maybe the Wings make the deal. But if he is a 6m Dman, why would the Wings trade for him? Just sign a 6m in UFAs. Be an interesting conversation for Drury with Trouba. "Captain, we want to trade you. Would you waive for Detroit.? If he says no, you have soured Captain. If the trade is made, the Yzerman holds the fire to Drury's feet. Wings have no reason to help the Rangers cap, after all they are competition in the East. Steve Y holds out for 50% retention

As others have pointed out, he wouldn't be a good fit for Detroit given their top 2 RD of Seider and Hronek. But, yeah, I think the idea is to trade him at some point before the 2024-25 season (after the Rangers have won the Cup this year or next; if they haven't done it by 2024 summer - when the window is closing to win with Panarin and Kreider and the youth at reasonable salaries, there will be a sense of failure that makes moving him justifiable even without the consideration that Lindgren should be signed (the combo of both salaries is untenable).

I switched trade partner from DET to MIN, another midwest team he would conceivably waive his NTC for.

Ah, yes. Minnesota, a team with major cap troubles, can definitely take your huge cap hits in return.

The sharks are not giving up assets for those 2. If you want to dump pay to dump but we are not upgrading your picks for that return

On Goodrow / Kravstov trade, it is basically a cap-controlled Kravstov (who would be an immediate plug in top 9 player for the Sharks - he just hasn’t been given a shot to develop this year bc of their win-now mode) for a 2nd rounder, and the Goodrow piece is not a pure salary dump - SJS would essentially be getting a 2024 3rd in exchange plus a 4th for a 2025 3rd. Maybe youd have to sub in a conditional /2nd for the 3rd, but i dont think the deal is that far-fetched as constructed. But yeah, Remove the 2025 3rd that comes back to NYR and it’s pretty fair

Ah right, the Suter / Parise disaster buyouts dont come substantially off the books until 2025-26. Missed that small detail!
