Where are you trading Dubois in the off-season? I don't think many teams other than Montreal would be too interested in acquiring him in the off-season. So, I'm thinking Montreal would be offering Anderson+ or Dvorak+, might be something to think about.

That's the potential problem with giving up a ton of assets to acquire Meier since they will still need a 2C after. I would imagine it's a draft day trade if MTL could acquire some more draft capital, they might offer Florida's 1st depending on who is available there + Anderson or Dvorak. Teams like Colorado who need a C, would be interested if they don't get a solution this year, but the package for Dubois will probably be a rental-type trade which won't be enough assets for WPG to get a good 2C.

No one knows the package Montreal would give the Jets for Dubois. The only thing for certain is that on July 1, 2024 Dubois will no longer be a Jet.
Rumor is Montreal is being offered good deals for Anderson by other teams but Montreal is not trading him because he will be used in the trade for Dubois.
Every year there are few high quality players available as UFA's. The Jets could very well pass on Timo and in the 2024-25 season rely on their younger players.
Bidding war for Timo. No offer is too excessive if you want him.

The extra first makes the gamble worth it.
