Some other team might be into Edmundson, but a 2nd rounder by itself is an overpay for Edmundson with his poor play this season.

I don't see him even taking Edler's role at this point.

Take out Spence and add retention. Maybe the Kings will send you a 2nd round pick then.

I still dont think we should make a trade for PLD in the off season. One of the most dangerous things a team can do during a rebuild is to try to rush it by signing a player/players that don't fit with their window. Look at the Canucks with Miller (or even the Canucks since 2011) or the Red Wings this year. Committing assets to acquire a player like PLD is something we should be doing if were closer to taking that next step, and currently sitting 27th in the league I don't know if were at that yet.

I think we should commit to the tank for 2023/24, and hope he takes his 1 year qualifying offer (like Laine), and he can sign with us in the off season. Getting PLD this year who wont put us into the playoffs takes away from potential greatness down the road. Sit patient and let the Hughes cook - every chef will tell you patience is key

Dubois is 24 years old and I signed Monahan for a term of max 2 years to maximize his value.

I don't mind the Monahan signing (especially if he's not healthy by the TDL). I'm thinking that if PLD really wants to come to MTL, there's no need to trade for him when were not going to compete next year. Might as well keep that 1st, 2nd and Kidney as they could be used as chips down the line when we're trying to push for playoffs

Yeah good point but i think Winnipeg will trade him somewhere if he doesn’t resign. If he ends up in a big city like LA NYR CHI I think you would sign in a city like that

There's no logical or rational reason that the Jets would move PLD for less than what Horvat got.

I know it's a favourite fantasy of Montreal fans, the old something for nothing trade, there's just no rational behind it in this case.

Jets fans can look at it the way they want, PLD is gone no matter what summer of 2024. They can either maximize his trade value now with an extra year left before hes UFA (trade would be this summer since Jets are making the Playoffs) or they wait till the TDL next year or they can lose him for nothing. Hes dead set on playing for the Habs. Every other team knows this. His value will never be higher than this summer if Jets wanna trade him. MTL is likely gonna draft a 1 or 2C in 2023. They can just wait it out and see how this plays out. No need to give up a package for PLD.
