A first is definitely worth it. Stacked draft. We can further fill our prospect pool. We could fill a positional need. A lot of good RHD available in the late first round

If the Canucks do end up retaining that much, it signifies they want a larger shakeup, so the $3M over 3 years wouldn’t be that big of a problem

Well, Boeser's contract doesn't turn into a good one by 50% retention, it turns into a slightly to rich one.
Just because an increased cost is imposed on to the Canucks, owing to retention on a bad asset, doesn't mean that the possible return for Boeser is a 1st rd pick.
It probably just means that the return the Canucks get move from future considerations to 3rd + 4th.
I get that you like McDonough but I don't see how his inclusion moves the Canucks from a couple of mid rd picks to a 1st + Walsh.

Idk maybe McDonough and Boeser at 50% really is worth all that but to me this would be nothing if not reckless should Fitzgerald go through with it.
Rather the Devils just keep the 1st and try for a Walsh - McDonough swap.
