So Tarasenko honestly seems like the best option. With Kane slipping out of the trade talks, given him needing hip surgery, and Meier waaaaay too expensive to pick up, he's the only realistic big name target we could get. He's had a bit of a downturn this year, but with the way the Blues as a team are playing, that's not that surprising. That and the Horvat trade also means he shouldn't cost too much to get. At most, I'd say it'd be Krav and a 2023 1st, but I think this is pretty realistic. I don't see why he wouldn't return to form on the Rangers, plus it'd given the 1st line another weapon, with Vlad being a former 30-40 goal scorer, and it'd free up the kids to keep playing together.
Nyquist is an interesting one too. He's apparently injured, but they say he'll return for the playoffs. In that case, it's essentially free depth, depending on what form he'd be in. It's a risk to say the least, but either he plays well and we give up a 3rd, or he doesn't and we only give up a 6th. Other options for that spot is promoting either Vesey, Goodrow, Cuylle, or maybe even Blais depending on his form, all of whom could work on that line, or, and this is very unlikely and probably a bad idea, Othmann could be brought up for the playoffs to get a game or two. He's someone I certainly see playing either with Tro and Kreids, or Mika and Bread in the future.
i like this and even if nyquist doesn't play we could have otty or vesey and try to get motter back on 4th. everything i like here but maybe give a first rather than 2nds and then try to find a bottom pairing for schids just incase cause I don't want to see libor play if someone goes down.
That probably works for the Jackets. Depends on how many playoff games, obviously, but that's the sort of structure we're looking for in a Nyquist deal.
you'd rather have a regressing 26 year old with little upside than a 23 year old prospect with all the tools to become a top 6 staple, that has already shown he's got genuine potential in the KHL? ok

I'd rather have a contract that comes off the books at season's end, and the Blues felt the same way.
no you said you wanted an actual prospect. essentially all you got was a conditional 1st, and a late one at that
Okay, well that's a different thing altogether. Skinner is the prospect. He's not the one I wanted, but he's not a bad prospect. And I said I preferred taking Blais over taking Kravtsov. Plus you're leaving out the 4th that will be a 3rd when that condition kicks in. I mean, these are all basic facts, maybe try adhering to them.

I guess it's rude to mock someone in denial... anyways
Skinner is barely holding himself in the AHL and is 21. He'll be a 7D at best. Blais is worse than Kravtsov right now and has little room for growth, unlike Krav who's 23 and has shown flashes of brilliance in the NHL and KHL, while putting up insane defensive metrics. The 3rd is basically what we're paying for Mikkola, who's the type of player we've been looking for for a while.
So basically, a fringe 4th liner and a late 1st for Tarasenko, who essentially guarantees a deep run. I'm completely ignoring Skinner cause you could easily just sign someone so much better than him in free agency. There are KHL/SHL free agents who would be better signings than him.
We're getting a top 6 RW (a rental but who cares, we still have Krav and Othmann for the future) and a solid 3rd pairing dman, for a cap dump, one of our two late 1sts, a 3rd, and a nothing prospect, how is that 'what you wanted' lmao.

You're one of those sorts who loves to argue for the sake of arguing, huh?
