The funny part of "Keeping the 1st" is that the likelihood that whoever you draft becomes anything close to Sandin is a long shot.

Dubas doesnt keep any picks he is more likely to move down.

Draft picks and prospects are for peasants. If I was a fan of a team that is build for contention, I'd much rather have the current forward and D-core than a "Late first" or "Prospect McProspects Alot, the biggest steal in draft history even though we've never seen him play professional hockey, but it's obvious!"

Leafs are much better keeping Sandin and 2.6m in cap over McCabe. Heck the two upcoming UFA....Engvall and Domi...for on ice value is there that much difference? And the Leafs to give three picks and Robertson too? Why?

Keep Sandin, Hawks don't need him and with him this is a overpay.

Yes, there is a difference between Engvall and Domi...Domi is putting up twice the points engvall is. Engvall is a better bottom 6 defender, but considering the hole the Leafs have on the 2nd line at LW...Domi is a much better fit for a playoff run.

Domi has got 14 of points on the PP, Engvall two. Domi wouldn't be getting nearly the PP time with the Leafs, even Bunting doesn't get much with the Leafs.. Domi has much more offensive starts than Engvall. Domi plays five minutes a night more than Engvall. On ice value, is Domi really better?

Hands down because Domi has earned more ice time and is a much better offensive player then Engvall ever has or will be. Nobody in the know would question who the better top 6 player is. There is a reason why Domi has more value in a trade then Engvall. Domi would still be on the PP2 unit of the leafs so those 14 points would not evaporate entirely from 14 to 0, and there is still 21 points in even strength beating engvall's.

I fully acknowledge Engvall is a better defensive player, but there's a reason he's never stuck in the top 6 on the Leafs despite the big hole; he's a bottom 6 player...Domi is not.
