What else do you really need to win a cup? I'm not looking for any of your (meaningful) roster players. Just Blais for cap purposes. The NY Post came out and discussed how the NYR are getting beat too badly at the DOT against other playoff contenders....Toews is currently the best in the league that can play the PK as well. Playmaking has also been an issue for the NYR with basically Panarin hauling that load. 15th in goals scored. 17th on the PP.
It's not the defense or goaltending that needs adjusting. 3rd in GA. 11th is decent for PK, but Toews can still help there too.

Could be done but Chicago or NYR will have to throw something to a team like Arizona to retain, they both make barely any money for the rest of the season compared to their AAV

I'm the ONLY one on CFACGM who wants to keep Larkin in Detroit. Apparently it's impossible. Well here anyways.

Oh you said Yzerman. No. I'm perfectly fine with him as Red Wings GM. But he's not allowed to re-sign his own players because rental.

I actually think Vancouver would be a great fit. CHI isn't winning next year either. VAN can send Tyler Myers to CHI and reduce their cap hit next year by $6M all while getting CHI to pay his signing bonus this offseason. No picks needed, but CHI would have to be willing to spend the cash.

I feel like Chicago would get more selling them separately.

I'm not saying you're wrong. This is just one hypothetical situation IF they forced a situation to stay together. Afterall, they do control their destiny.

Just a hunch but I think Toews and Kane are more the type of players to say “I will go to these teams” and leave the deal making to the GM’s.

No chance the Rangers give up both 1st round picks, especially not for Kane who needs a new hip and Towes.

Oh New Yorkers. A random guy named Arther Staple makes claim that "Everyone knows Kane needs hip surgery" and everyone now thinks that's the gospel. He's missed 3 games in the last EIGHT years (i think 1 covid stint too) and he's damaged goods?!?! BUT at the same time Ryan O'Rielly is currently on the 6 week IR and he's not??? If Kaner is damaged goods, then the entire NHL is damaged goods. He's literally the most reliable player in the ENTIRE NHL in the last 8 years.

Except for Panarin. He's been vocal about wanting Kaner. And most sports writers would be upset that the NYR didn't address their two biggest needs. Arther Staple might be happy, but he's the clickbait outlier rather than majority.

I think Panarin's paycheck will keep him happy enough. He has it tough playing with Mika as his center and getting 2 mins of PP time each penalty.

I guess. It's possible winning doesn't mean much to him. You might be right. Maybe he doesn't want his team to do everything they can to win the cup. It's definitely 1 possibility.

Ok, so trading for Kane is the only way the Rangers can improve their chances at winning a cup. Why didn't you say so? Call Drury and let him know please.

I'm on it! And don't forget Toews too. The Rangers suck at faceoffs. He's the league's best FO guy this year.

Oh yeah, they will throw in Shesterkin with 50% retention too.
