This is the Kings home run swing. They give up 2 1sts and 2 top prospects to bring in a new goalie and Chychrun while getting out of the Peterson contract. They also flip Roy to the Oilers for Puljujarvi and get Arizona to eat that terrible Ceci contract.

Why does Arizona do it? They take a chance on rejuvenating Peterson and Ceci while helping them get to the floor, and for their troubles they get 2 picks and 3 good young players to help build with.

I can't see ARI doing this. EDM gets a steal getting Matt Roy for a second and 2 cap dumps. Clarke and the 2 firsts for Chych and Vej (with Peterson coming back for the cap dump) sure. But no way Holland is pulling off that kind of steal.

Kings giving up the farm to be competitive for 2 years. lose Matt Roy and Brandt Clarke + 2 1st rounders, I don't think so.

Arizona can keep that price high, Chychrun's years remaining just keeps getting lower the more they stick to that price.

I guess I just don't see Puljujarvi as a cap dump yet. Puljujarvi for Roy and then throwing in the 2nd to get rid of Ceci. If Edmonton makes a trade for a dman, they HAVE to figure out how to send back one of their other guys. There are so many bad dmen there.

The Kings as you, probably know, are LOADED. Maybe its not Roy, maybe its Walker instead? Or Durzi? But I gave up Clarke, Connors, and 2 picks and didn't touch Byfield, Spence, Turcotte, etc. Getting off the next 2 years of the Peterson money to bring in a good goalie and an upgrade on Roy/Walker makes them competitive now and in the future.

I think you aren't looking at how conservative Blake has been or what the Kings really need. Look at what Rob Blake gave up for 8 years of Fiala: 1st rounder + Brock Faber (Former 2nd rounder). Add to this, is the Kings main issue offensive play? Because this season they have been much better at filling the net, if anything they need a more solid 2-way defenseman. The goalie improvement might be nice, but I think the Kings will call back Cal if the cost of moving him is this high. Someone will pay the bag for Chychrun, but it won't be Blake.

He's more of a reclamation project for most teams, but to make a significant move, EDM has to treat him like a cap dump. He's just not working there, and every team in the league knows it. Kulak is probably the guy they want to get rid of instead of Ceci, even though Ceci is a higher cap hit
