Without any retention, Kerfoot's maybe worth Ritchie + a 4th imo. For the price you’re proposing, the Flames would be better off pursuing 0.67PPG Players like SJ’s Barabanov or FLA’s Duclair who each come with an additional year term, so could be flipped next season to get those trade assets back if ned be.

This doesn't have to be Calgary, but this is another way the Leafs can be creative. Kerfoot is a fairly valuable deadline rental as a versatile middle 6 forward who can add some scoring punch in a supplemental role, Calgary has said they need to add scoring, Kerfoot can play on the wing or in the middle and can help on their 2nd PP and 2nd PK if need be. Pretty standard deadline cost of a 2nd. Maybe Calgary can do better than that and maybe Kerfoot goes somewhere else, but the point would be that he goes in a deal the Leafs make as a seller to bring in assets to add to their Chychrun package.

Then they add Chychrun for their 1st, Sandin, Calgary's 2nd, and Ty Voit who is having an exceptional season in the OHL. Voit might be too low of a spot, and Arizona probably doesn't want to retain on their own guys so that they can retain on other teams players for some freebie picks so maybe take that out as well.

Regardless, Leafs upgrade Sandin to Chychrun and add some size with Bjugstad for the stretch run to help combat that Tampa bottom 6. Plus they maintain some of their deadline space. Calgary gets some scoring, Arizona gets a young D with upside, a young forward, and 2 picks.

Leafs could probably retain on Kerfoot, it would still work. I wish I could edit my trade because I did think about that. Ritchie is just a body and Kerfoot is a middle 6 forward. I wouldn't say he was worth a 2nd most times, but at the deadline he is. If this was something the Leafs explored, I could see Seattle, Winnipeg, maybe Pittsburgh, maybe Minnesota taking a shot at Kerfoot. He has 23 points playing very limited minutes with the Leafs. He had 50 last year. He can play.

Kerfoot is more of a Defensive Player and Playmaker, he’s not really what I would consider a Scorer

My problem with Kerfoot is he’s undersized for a Bottom-6 Role and not good enough on Faceoffs to be a full time Centre

I know Kerfoot can play and I think he’s underrated but he’s not the impact player Calgary needs. That and CGY won’t be able to afford to re-sign him so would lose him for nothing to Free Agency. Better to use those assets more wisely elsewhere

Arizona and Calgary both tell Dubas to pound sand.
