Maybe it's a good thing the Canucks did not give Horvat that contract. That would likely become JT Miller 2.0. Horvat has 54 points in 49 games right now. I think by the end of this season, he'll have something like 45 goals and 33 assists. Horvat will be 28 in April. His career high in points before that was 61 points in 2018-2019. I'd rather the Canucks trade Miller cuz he was older, but Canucks management chooses the wrong player. If the cap goes up by 1 million, then the Canucks have more than 6 million of cap space left. Hoglander, Bear, and Dermott, are RFAs. Do you keep Ethan Bear? He's been alright i guess. Honestly I wouldn't qualify Bear or Dermott. Tanner Pearson is a question mark. Could he end up on LTIR island like Tucker Poolman.
They should bring back Schenn and look for one more RD.

If they can get a 2nd or a decent prospect for Schenn before the deadline they have to do it. Still possible to re-sign him in July if they want to circle back.

Keeping Bear is more important than keeping Schenn. They need guys who they can rely on moving forward. Getting 1 big RD signing like Dumba or Severson would be good as well. Myers needs to go. So, the ufa signing, Bear, and Schenn or a different vet on the right side.

It might be, but if they can sign one of them for something in the 5s or 4s they should or maybe they practice some patience on that front but I think bringing back Bear ia worth while even if he's just there for a year or two.

Mayfield will probably cost something in the 3s maybe even 4s so he's probably not the guy for the Canucks.
