Description
Assuming Horvat is extended, this was a move for the now and future (1-3+ years) to extend this team's window. With the salary retention the Isles still have cap space for another big move and considering Wahlstrom is seemingly out for the season they will most likely need to acquire a 2RW for this season who can replace beauvillier (who despite being useless in almost every area he was good at fishing the pucks out of the corners for Nelson)

Pay no attention to the cap hit, they have $9M in TDL space

Just curiosity - what do you mean by $9mil in TDL space? Is someone projected to go to LTIR or something?

I've seen this a few times from Islanders fans - just don't know what it means

its actually around $11.3M apparently

basically as the season goes on acquiring someone will require less cap because there will be less $ to pay the player. Teams also accrue cap space through the season by sending people down (paper moves)

He broke his wrist blocking a shot, He played pretty much all of the 2022 calendar year at a ppg pace and yes he does have a NTC.

For reference, Horvat is shooting 21.7% this season on a career average of around 14. Tarasenko is shooting 9.7% with a career average of 12.7%. I'm not trying to say that Tarasenko is going to pull what Horvat did. But I dont think it should be all too far off. Probably a slightly lesser player and a little lesser of a prospect if i had to guess.

Buddy, he's not pulling anything remotely close to Horvat got. He's 31 years old having an awful season and is a winger. Bo Horvat is one of the best 2 way centers in the league, who is one of the best faceoff man in the league. This is likely the range of what Tarasenko will go for maybe adding a mid tier prospect

Bo Horvat isn't a two-way center. He's a scoring center who wins some faceoffs. He's not a great player in the DZ. But that's besides the point. My main point was do you put all of your value into a guy having a career year, or do you look at a larger sample size of what the player is and has been recently. I personally don't think Horvat is that much higher caliber of a player but that's my opinion. He's probably a 2nd line center who has a good shot/nose for scoring, can win draws, but isn't really much of a matchup guy.

Senko is absolutely not getting a Horvat return. 4 years older, having a bad (and injury riddled) season. Hes played 147 games the past FOUR years if anything last season was an outlier
