No thanks for Kane feeding Quinn some easy goals?

He just hates Pat Kane, not that the idea is bad.

Does BUF have zero desire to get Dahlin back on his strong side?

Dahlin's strong side is the right.

Gonna be tough since that would mean Samuelsson gets paid 4+ mill to play bottom pair and they’d need 2 top 4 RDs instead of maybe 1

Samuelsson is Dahlin's partner for a reason...

You would have to give up some actual value pieces for the Canes to consider moving Pesce, and that is not the case in your proposal. Maybe start with Quinn or Cozens if you want to even have a chance at acquiring Pesce.

Quinn and Cozens not only are beyond the realm of untouchable (Cozens specifically, he's a point per game 2C)they are worth more than Pesce even if he wasnt a rental

Tampa used to run Sergachev third pair at even strength but then he got special team time and played his off side at the end of games. I expect something similar to happen in Buffalo.

    With Chychrun?

Not the way I’d do it personally. I’d target Durzi, Boqvist or maybe even Karlsson if San Jose is willing to acknowledge Karlsson isn’t worth much more than burns. I get that sharks fans want to recover the assets they lost when Karlsson was acquired, but that will never ever happen.

Granato and Adams often downplay the handedness of their defensemen, pointing to how their system requires so much fluidity and interchanging between left and right side for each pair. Dahlin and Samuelsson go back and forth within a shift as does Power and Jokiharju because all 4 have great mobility. Even lesser talents like Bryson and Clague, to smaller degrees of success, have played both left and right sides within the same game. Granato acknowledged how many fans and media, as well as some teams, rely on the traditional logic of keeping defensemen on their natural handed side but he's said it doesn't matter as much to him or most of his players because they learn to adapt.

For this reason, that's why those who point to the Chychrun rumors as being flawed since he's left-handed are missing the point. He'd likely be expected to play either side, depending on the game situation at the time.

The only logical reasons I can see for BUF not going after Chychrun are 1. he isn't worth the cost, which I think is kind of the point behind AZ setting the price so high, and 2. BUF needs defensive dmen. BUF's offense from both ends will be just fine for the foreseeable future.

The problem is that Arizona fans have said they he sucks on his off side, so we would assume then that he can't play this system

If a team wants to extend pesce and we get a younger top 6 winger back, sure. But I don’t see us selling off Pesce. Sure we likely won’t retain him but we love to do own rentals. Faulk was the only one we tried to recoup value for and it didn’t go well for us. Edmundson was a pylon and Bokk isn’t a fit for our 200ft game. We likely find more value in getting another year out of the player.

Reportedly, the Coyotes are pushing for Savoie, who the Sabres will not give up (rightly so). You're right in them needing more defensive-minded blueliners but at same time, Granato's system needs all of its defensemen to be good puck-movers in a transition game (something that Lyubushkin - who was supposedly defensively strong - hasn't been great in), which Chychrun is. There have also been reports that the Sabres management knows they get pushed around physically a lot, especially in their own zone, and would like to improve there on the blueline. Chychrun is big and plays a heavy style.

More than likely though is the Sabres opting for a more affordable option.
