I have to say, respectfully, I always balk at such large trades. No team should ever trade that many assets unless it's McDavid and Draisaitl, or something like that, coming back. Re-arrange said 12 assets for fairness lol.

That said, those three guys could be useful to Detroit, my issue is Schmaltz seems to have trouble staying healthy for long stretches?

But yeah, don't see this being the kind of trade that ever happens.

Or, on That 70's Show, when Eric was trying to explain to Red how he was going to pay for his own college by getting a high paying job, Red says, "Suuure... just go down to the Bureau of High Paying Jobs!! ... It's right next to the Pie in the Sky Office!" smile

Welcome to CapFriendly. The comments can get pretty vicious best not to take them personally. Every new user over values their favorite teams players at first. Read as many ACGM's with the comments and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Detroit declines.

We already have 2 goalies in Husso and Hellberg and getting a 3rd would only mean we'd have to waive one of them and neither Hellberg nor Vejmelka will clear waivers.

Detroit don't need LD, we already have 5 of them on the roster in Chiarot, Walman, Määttä, Oesterle, and Hägg. We also have the best prospect pipeline in the entire league on that position with Wallinder, Edvinsson, Johansson, Viro, Sebrango, McIsaac, Buium.

Schmaltz is the only player we would have any interest in.

Do you have this on repeat for new users? LOL (not a jab, cause it's a good intro)

When it comes to the trade, unfortunatlely there's not much of value for the Yotes. They make this trade and they're rebuilding for another 5-8 years.

Yeah it's cut and paste I know a couple of people how have posted once and haven't come back because of the comments. So if I notice a new user I have to ready to go. If there is an ACGM that is way off I check is how long they've been a member if it's only a week to 10 days I paste it any longer i don't

Oh no...

I'm taking all of this as "in good fun".

I've seen nothing posted (yet!!!) that I would take offense to...

Two things:

Red Wings: Vejmelka is better than Hellberg, it's an easy call. Waive Hellberg or trade him for whatever if that's possible... And key point: If the Red Wings are REALLY going to make a push for the playoffs, starting next year if not this year, they need to improve at all 3 levels. Interesting list of LHD's there... but... Chiarot looks pretty much done. Hagg is terrible and Oesterle is a 4th pairing guy. McIsaac and Sebrango are not much/ or not enough. Edvinsson & Wallinder I have HUGE hopes for, Johansson and Viro less so. Buium I like but am uncertain as to how much he develops; a lot in 2021 but not enough this year. But... Chychrun immediately becomes top pairing with Seider. Maatta & Walman can vie for pairing with Hronek. And when Edvinsson comes up he can match with Hronek and Maatta & Walman become a very good 3rd pairing. I see only upside here. And Schmaltz is the 2nd line Center, and the RH'ed center, that Detroit needs.

Coyotes: There's a whole lot more there than you think. All of the guys traded from the Red Wings (aside from the salary filler guys Chiarot & Suter) have at least soem kind of potential and are either in the NHL, just were in the NHL (and now on IR or rehabbing in AHL Grand Rapids), or in the AHL already (GR). Zadina is a #8 pick that hasn't met expectations. Coyotes try to unlock his scoring potential. Johansson is our #3 prospect on some lists, Sebrango is highly thought of (I believe that is still correct) in Detroit as a defensive defenseman, Nedeljkovic had a .932 save % in 2021 and a .901% in 2022, is 27, but is struggling this year... There are pieces to fix, to take a chance on, nice prospects at a higher level (but not yet NHL) and yes, futures in the draft picks that might be 5-ish + years down the road. The question is: is it getting too much, or too little from the Red Wings? Because... The 'Yotes are definitely going to be rebuilding at least for a year or two... And I see a lot of potential "next competitive team" players already on the Yotes roster ages 19-24. A lot of Red Wings guys in the same age bracket would be coming your way. Make of that what you will.

Final point: What is interesting to me is that: This trade is not accepted because (a) The Red Wings give up too much but get 3 really useful pieces back... (b) The Red Wings don't get back anything that they want, or need (except "maybe" Schmaltz)... and (c) Because the Coyotes don't get enough back in return...

That tells me it was a good trade because EVERYONE is annoyed with it!!!

Final final point: sorry for being a bit long-winded here...
