Oh no...
I'm taking all of this as "in good fun".
I've seen nothing posted (yet!!!) that I would take offense to...
Two things:
Red Wings: Vejmelka is better than Hellberg, it's an easy call. Waive Hellberg or trade him for whatever if that's possible... And key point: If the Red Wings are REALLY going to make a push for the playoffs, starting next year if not this year, they need to improve at all 3 levels. Interesting list of LHD's there... but... Chiarot looks pretty much done. Hagg is terrible and Oesterle is a 4th pairing guy. McIsaac and Sebrango are not much/ or not enough. Edvinsson & Wallinder I have HUGE hopes for, Johansson and Viro less so. Buium I like but am uncertain as to how much he develops; a lot in 2021 but not enough this year. But... Chychrun immediately becomes top pairing with Seider. Maatta & Walman can vie for pairing with Hronek. And when Edvinsson comes up he can match with Hronek and Maatta & Walman become a very good 3rd pairing. I see only upside here. And Schmaltz is the 2nd line Center, and the RH'ed center, that Detroit needs.
Coyotes: There's a whole lot more there than you think. All of the guys traded from the Red Wings (aside from the salary filler guys Chiarot & Suter) have at least soem kind of potential and are either in the NHL, just were in the NHL (and now on IR or rehabbing in AHL Grand Rapids), or in the AHL already (GR). Zadina is a #8 pick that hasn't met expectations. Coyotes try to unlock his scoring potential. Johansson is our #3 prospect on some lists, Sebrango is highly thought of (I believe that is still correct) in Detroit as a defensive defenseman, Nedeljkovic had a .932 save % in 2021 and a .901% in 2022, is 27, but is struggling this year... There are pieces to fix, to take a chance on, nice prospects at a higher level (but not yet NHL) and yes, futures in the draft picks that might be 5-ish + years down the road. The question is: is it getting too much, or too little from the Red Wings? Because... The 'Yotes are definitely going to be rebuilding at least for a year or two... And I see a lot of potential "next competitive team" players already on the Yotes roster ages 19-24. A lot of Red Wings guys in the same age bracket would be coming your way. Make of that what you will.
Final point: What is interesting to me is that: This trade is not accepted because (a) The Red Wings give up too much but get 3 really useful pieces back... (b) The Red Wings don't get back anything that they want, or need (except "maybe" Schmaltz)... and (c) Because the Coyotes don't get enough back in return...
That tells me it was a good trade because EVERYONE is annoyed with it!!!
Final final point: sorry for being a bit long-winded here...
