That’s not completely true. It was reported that the reason no team took Reilly is because of cap reasons, teams moving cap around at the deadline would make Reilly more appealing than him being on waivers initially. Now I think you would have to move an asset to get rid of his contract but it certainly wouldn’t be a 3rd. Likely a 5th or 6th.

For retaining on Toews and taking cap dump of Smith, I'd think the return has to be a lot better.
