What is wrong with the rangers trade.?

I’m just trying to find something that works for both teams. With the same 3 players from the rangers you make a offer to the Sabres

First off the Rangers aren't trading Schneider, Seriously doubt Goodrow waives for Buffalo. And it takes far better pieces to get Alexis Lafreniere out of New York.

Goodrow is worth more than the late-maturing Asplund, the slow-developing LaFreniere is still worth more than Ostlund, and Schneider is worth way more than Olofsson and Jokiharju.

Why. Olosffson would be on your top line asplund is a great penalty killer and a solid forward who is just redundant on our team. Henri is a top 4 right handed young defender and ostlund is a #16 pick center I believe from this past years draft. Seams like a pretty good deal for laff who is not a good skater and has struggled every year in his career I think the Sabres could add a mid round pick but that’s about it. I get with Schneider if you just don’t want to trade him but this trade would make your team better

Perhaps this is true with Buffalo, But it might not be the case with the Rangers for those players. Why would the Rangers even need Henri when they've Fox, Trouba and Schneider on the rightside. Olofsson would be a 3rd liner with the Rangers not top 6 like Buffalo. like i said this makes no sense for New York.

Goodrow is not worth more than asplund especially with his contract. Olosffson has 19 goals 14 eve strength and would be better yet if he was used on first power play. Jokiharju is a solid top 4 right shot defender. Buffalo might have to add a little but not much. It’s a good starting point. All you ranger fans only ever say no this trade sucks but don’t ever offer up your side

Olofsson was pretty much a beneficiary of Jack Eichel.

And both Kakko and Lafreniere are being underutilized in New York.

Once Drury stops laughing, he says NO THANKS and hangs up. Schneider and Laffy are both unavailable for trade and not interested in trading Goodrow.

Jack eichel hasn’t Been here in a year how are his numbers now a result of jack eichel? He is having his best year as a pro. Do some research you just embarrassing yourself again this statement you made makes no sense

How can you say that Asplund, who scores at the rate of 0.3 pts per game, is better than a proven veteran with extensive playoff experience who is good on both sides of the puck and scores at better than 0.4 pts per game over a much longer career? We in Los Angeles (contrary to your accusation, I'm not a Rangers fan) have an almost perfect comparable to Asplund -- Carl Grundstrom. Born two days apart and both drafted in the second round, one has 46 points in 166 games and the other has 49 points in 162 games; NY wouldn't trade either even up for Goodrow except possibly for cap reasons, which don't apply here.

If Olofsson is so good that he would be a reliable scoring threat on the power play, why isn't your coach playing him there?

Jokiharju is a solid top 4 right shot defender who has about half the value of the superior top 4 right shot defender Braden Schneider.

The reason why the Rangers guys don't make you a counter-offer with that package is because you're no more about to trade Dahlin or Power than they are to trade LaFreniere or Schneider.

So you are comparing Dahlin and Power to Lafreniere and Schneider in term on untouchable assets ?

No, nothing like that. I'm saying that the OP won't get the counter-offer he is asking for (which must include those three Rangers) because the only Buffalo players NY needs and would ask for in return are superior quality LhDs and Buffalo isn't about to trade either of them.

First, I am so happy that every one thinks that is not enough going to the Rangers, as a Buffalo fan they should not be making this trade.
Second, Eichel has not played one game for the Sabres this year, yet Olofsson had 18 goals, and only 17 NHL wingers (left or right) have more goals than that. That is top line quality my friends, playing third line minutes.
Third, Olofsson over the past three years has only 19 fewer goals than Lafrenière has POINTS.
Olofsson is not a top 6 winger this year playing only 14 min/gm on the same line with Jost and Mittelstadt, a waiver claim and what many consider a bust are his line mates, hardly top six quality.
Fourth, Jokiharju plays more minutes than ANY other RHD D-man for the Sabres this year and last year only Dahlin played more minutes than he. He has developed into a solid defensive RHD who over his career matches Schneider scoring capabilities.
Fifth, let's agree Goodrow, is a solid defensive forward, but so is Asplund at a forth the price. Last year before Quinn, Peterka and Jost pushed him into the press box, he scored only 6 fewer pts than Barcley.
Finally, use these comparisons
Goodrow with Asplund
Lafrenière with Olofsson
Schneider with Jokiharju
Östlund as a sweetener.

As a Sabre fan I will keep Olofsson's 18 goals as a third line winger over Lafrenière's potential every opportunity I can get.
I know who Jokiharju is and only three Buffalo defensemen play more minutes than his 20 min/gm v Schneider15 min/gm.
I will also keep Östlund and Asplund over Goodrow's $3,641,667 until 2026-27, that cap hit can be spent better elsewhere and is too much for a 3rd or 4th liner.

Bottom line let's all agree this trade does not work for either team and call it a draw, but it is certainly not a terrible offer, just not in the best interest of the Rangers to make the changes.
