Drouin has negative value, I could see COL giving him a prove it deal in the off season though. Manson and Byram won’t be back until February COL isn’t trading a dman.

Not that Drouin has an abundance of value but the retention slot alone is worth more than a '25 4th. You can have a reunion in the offseason and sign him as a UFA if you're all about it in this proposal.

I can't really see how Drouin has negative value, he's UFA and has actually been alright since coming back from injury. He's not a super valuable piece, but with the retention, you could do a lot worse for a 4th

From Mtl, I would really like to give Drouin a real opportunity to be successfull. Half retain vs nothing with conditional pick if they make a run and Drouin is involved in the success of the team:
out 1st round or Drouin don't play - nothing
out 2nd or 3nd round and Drouin is playing more than half the game - 4 round pick 2023
Final and Drouin is playing more than half the game - 3 round pick 2025
Stanley Cup and Drouin is playing more than half the game - 1 round pick 2025

He’s not good defensively, he isn’t scoring, and even at 50% retained after 3 seasons of flat cap he is massively overpaid, and teams being cap strapped aren’t trading for guys that aren’t producing.

You aren’t going to get a team to give up a 1st with 50% games played conditions that’s just not enough of an incentive to not bench him.

“Great lately” is that code for having half his points for the whole season in the last 5? In a normal cap environment maybe but with teams so many teams cap strapped I don’t see it especially in COL where forwards have to be willing defenders.

There’s a chance they might not be healthy then. The injuries have been awful
